Heat sink design, fans, wires, colors, transformers and adjustability are all identical. Only difference is the name on the box.

I was just offering up my opinion based on what I bought, my experience with them and the youtube video that I watched. You uncovered one of life's big mysteries and I'm proud of you. So I overpaid apparently. Time to move on and stop quoting me. Thanks
 
I guess trying to help people out and show you were you can get the same product for 75% less gets you attitude these days..
I watched the same video and recognized the lights from cruising on Amazon so posted the link. Definitely best to move on...

Has anyone found a great set of LED H11s low beam headlights that are DOT approved? I live in Virginia where safety inspections make it a requirement to have DOT approved headlights and my OEM projectors are just okay.

no one is going to be looking inside your projector during an inspection...
 
Chiming in to share that the Hikari Ultra "Eyes of Megatron" h11 bulbs were by far the best h11 LEDs I tested and the ones I ended up keeping.

These were the only LED bulbs recommended in this Tacoma World post which is a great resource.

The best performing replacement LEDs by far are the Hikari Ultras covered in this post, which have better focus and output intensity than the competition. They are the only replacement LEDs I would recommend. Note they are outperformed by the best halogen performance upgrades.

I was able to get good focus and throw by manually clocking the bulb in the housing to their recommended spec. The bulbs don't fit the 4Runner housing if you just try to insert and twist, but they do end up fitting if you:
  1. Pull off the bulb twist collar
  2. Swap the OEM seals onto the bulb collar
  3. Insert and twist the collar into the housing first
  4. Press the bulb into the collar (it has rubber grommets to hold it in)

If you really want them to be perfect, you can probably file or Dremel off a tiny bit of the heatsink where it rubs on the housing but I didn't find that necessary.

I was disappointed in the Diode Dynamics SL1s given how highly recommended they are and the cost. They were pretty dim and I couldn't get the right headlight to focus in the lens and create a hotspot on the wall. Thankfully Diode has good customer service and a satisfaction guarantee so I returned them.
