Im about 75% committed to an ARB up front.. There is just that small part of me that doesn't want to drop the money.. but now would be the time. I am hoping I can find a sale on one somewhere soon!

I haven't flexed out the rear yet. I wanted to get the panhard taken care of and I also wanted to get extended brake lines as well before I start flexing. So I am not really sure about the bump stops yet. The toytech ones are super nice but if they hadn't come in my kit I don't think I would have dropped $60-$70 for the pair :/

ARB Bumper install time:




Cut the ends of the frame off.


Got the brackets mounted.

The install went better than I thought it would. I was going to just cut the flange off of the frame head and leave the end closed but it was so much easier to just cut the whole end off. I will plate it later when I take bumper back off to install winch.
As a note... the ARB instructions are horrible!!!! They are actually pointless and didnt even get used. I have a bag full of unused hardware with no clue what they go to but the bumper is mounted completely and solid. I love the look of the bumper. My brother helped out which is a must for final mounting of the bumper.. just went so much easier. After it was installed he ordered one for his FJ60.. such a cool product

Got my axle seals, rear wheel bearings and brakes all replaced this weekend.

Passenger side had already been replaced at some time but I already bought the parts and didnt know when it was replaced so just did them both for peace of mind.


Brakes were gear oil soaked.




Back from the machine shop all clean and ready to go. Using autozone brake shoes and if they start squeaking I will get some toyota shoes.



All back together and so fresh and so clean

Didnt work on the 4runner this weekend but I did get some new bumper lights in the mail



Did work on the 87 though.. My older son is almost 16 so we started sanding down the 4runner getting it ready for some fresh white. I am going to let him drive it for school.

Got some PIAA fogs for the front bumper.. mounted them, now I just need to wire..

Wired in my PIAA fog lights this weekend.

Used an open bank on fuse panel...

Where I mounted relay using a factory tapped hole..

The cut off the PIAA switch and went with a factory toyota switch instead. Looks bare over here but soon there will be ARB locker switches and winch control switch to fill in all the holes.

Then added a grab handle...

AND.... my savage offroad sliders arrived

I need to do that same thing to my rear axles some time soon lol. Been putting it off for too long.

I put the rear axles off as long as I could... you knows its bad when you park after driving in 95 degree weather and see gear oil drips coming off rear tire!

Mine usually only leaks under 2 conditions:

1) The truck sits for a long time (month or so) and allows the oil to get past the seal. Once it does, it continues to do so.

2) Anytime I do extreme or long trail offroading when the axle is constantly flexing and bumping over rocks.

It's mainly the driver side, but the passenger side has done it before. I'm gonna need the whole 9 yards like yours did. New everything! lol

That's weird.. it was my drivers side that was bad too and at some point my passenger side had already been done.. although I did it again for peace of mind. This was the first time I paid a shop to do the press work and it was so worth it to not have that frustration!

Mind if I ask you what you paid for everything? All parts and labor..

I know the shop work is a lot but I have done these before and the press work sucks! Not to mention you have to be precise with the abs ring depth so it was totally worth the money to save me the work and stress!
