Urgent help! Taillights not working in middle of roadtrip

Hey guys i really need your help. Im stranded in albequerqe mew mexico at night with no working taillights. Im trying to drive back to texas and its night time. A cop rolled diwn hus window and told me my taillights werent working so i pulled into a gas station.

Taillights and brake light wont turn on. Headlights work and when i press the brake they liggt up. Also the orange lights on the headlighrs dont work. Any suggestions? Writing thid on a phone.

The rear tail light bulb is a double filament bulb, so the brake filament might be working but the brake filament might be blown. I just had the opposite issue with mine where the tail light portion would light but the brake light wouldn't work. Not sure about the front side marker lights. They might be blown as well. Good luck.
 
Im going to try switching the tail fuse with the cig fuse but its really hard to pull them out. Do u use plyers or something?
 
See if your flashers work...if they do just throw on the flashers to get home at least without being rear ended. You can also buy at a truck stop some magnetic led battery powered tail lights since your brake lights are working might want to think of that at least til you get home...
 
Ok i replaced that fuse with a higher power fuse and everything works. I used a 30a fuse froautozone in alberquerqe (spelling?). I tried 10a and it kept blowing. Now im using a 30a. Is the power lighter in the trunk on the same system as the taillights? Because i had a outlet converter plugged in there that was charging my camera and macbook so i think that might have screwed up the system.
 
Very very bad idea. It's most likely blowing because you have a short some where. You are risking burning up wiring or starting a fire. Your lights and power ports will not be on the same circuit.
 
I would start by removing both tail light bulbs and seeing if it still blows the 10A fuse. If it does then you have a wiring issue. If it doesn't bow with them out then plug them in one at a time to see if it may be one of the bulbs or possibly the bulb connector. You may be able to get away with just replacing a bulb or not running one bulb in a bad connector.

Follow this advice. I've seen the filament on a bulb burn out, fall funny and blow a fuse before.

I would not leave that 30amp fuse in there. You're asking for big trouble. Find the right (or very close) amperage fuse. The drawing on the fuse cover will show you the right amperage for the circuit.
