2006 SR5 Headlight bulb replacement

Had a headlight go out on my 4Runner. What are the best bulbs to replace them with? I did a quick search, but most of what I was reading was about 9006 bulbs. I believe mine is an H11 bulb. I went to Walmart to look at the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras were $50! I read something that an H9 bulb will work with a little cutting of the plastic. What bulb should I look into? I'm looking for a brighter bulb with good longevity and easier on the wallet than $50. TIA

Brighter and cheaper is a tough combination to achieve. Maybe your best bet would be to get a generic H9 bulb (H9 is the brighter high-beam brother to H11). You'll have to shave a little off of the tab for the bulb to fit but it doesn't take much.

OP has 06 & cant use the hirs but i see some h11 HIR here can be bought from china. heres the h9 swap. 08 Low Beams H11 to H9 a few things tho, the h9 have around 2100 lumens compared to the h11's about 1350 but they are high beam bulbs & headlights may need to be adjusted down a bit, also wont last as long as h11 but the different brands have there own lifetime ratings so you may be replacing them sooner than an h11. this narva i believe has one of the longest. H9 bulb
