Rear OEM TOYOTA 4 RUNNER DIFFERENTIAL 3.73 (3.727) missing teeth!

Ever since my rear went out in my 05, I have been looking for a lower-cost replacement that I would not have to deal with the dealer for.

The ring gear lost 4 teeth so it just won't go for long without getting stuck on the stripped part of the gear.

I removed the differential "chunk" and took the ring gear out, thinking that was all I had to do. However people tell me I should replace the ring and pinion gear, oh then I also better get a crush sleeve, pinion seal, two new bearings all ordered through the dealer... so much for doing it myself. Already over $300 spent and now the guys at the shop are telling me the pinion gear is too short!??!!?
I was told that I have a: " OEM TOYOTA 4 RUNNER REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL E-LOCKER 3.73 (3.727)"

Anybody know where I can just order the whole assembly or what other ones might fit my 05 without causing any other problems??
If anyone can help me please and thank you!

^^^ what he said. I tried and tried to find a cheaper source and I couldn't even find a mechanic that could do it for less than $1100 and that was without a warranty. 5 year warranty from ECGS and they use a solid spacer so it won't deflect and break again, at least not without some SERIOUS abuse!!!!

$600

I rebuilt one myself, and consider myself pretty good at wrenching. With a press and air tools, it took me a solid 7-8 hrs to do it myself. That's with a secondary diff to build up on the side.

I wish you had posted this earlier, I threw the other one with a dead pinion bearing and crush sleeve away last week. Was taking up space in the garage and had to clean out...

...and getting to the point... the ECGS deal is pretty good after experiencing how much of a PITA it is to do your first time. 90% of it was setting the pinion shim height, but I'd strong recommend a solid spacer. No way in the world I'd do another crush sleeve after having to do all that as a result of it...

+1 on the ECGS. You do not have an e-locker, if stock.

I also recommend ECGS, I just replaced my rear third member and changed gear ratio. I am now waiting on the front. A local shop where i used to live wanted $2800 to rebuild the rear and $2000 used, that was just for the rear.

I got both at ECGS for around $1300. The 5 year warranty is also a plus, that should get me another 100,000.
