I have 2000 Toyota 4runner (4wheel drive) 6 Cylinder, the passenger side rear wheel was leaking break fluid and I changed the break cylinder on both sides. Then the passenger side that had leaked before was fixed but the driver side rear break that was not leaking before started to leak. I thought the cylinder was defective so I replaced the cylinder however I see it leaks again. Strangely, when I opened the drum I do not see leaky oil on the tip of the cylinder but I see a lot of break fluid on the shoes. Would you please help me to figure out what goes on? Thanks[/QUOTE

Most likely your axle seals. Search for that on this forum and you can compare the pics to yours. Bearings usually need to be replaced, too. It's axle oil, not brake fluid, on the brakes. Good luck!

Yep. Axle seal. I wanna take a vacuum hose and make a little extension for my breather to make sure i don't get mud and water in it.

Yup leaky axle seal.
I changed the axle seal myself but it started leaking again so then I changed the bearing and axle seal again and all good now. Make sure you put white grease on the seal prior to putting back the axle in. Tell the mechanic to put grease on the seal also, this is overlooked and you might still get a leaky seal.
Usually the reason the seal is leaking is due to the wheel bearing going out so might as well change the bearing while you are in there.

X2. Replace the bearing at the same time because lots of time the bad bearing is the cause of the seal going bad. My 2 cents.
