Do I have to take coilcovers off to adjust the bilstein 5100s?

As i'm sure some of you know, I installed the Toytec 3" lift recently(sorry for so many threads). My truck still has the front gate thing going on, i'm not crazy about it. What are my options to make it level? I know my front shocks are set to the lowest setting. Will raising the shocks up to the next notch raise my ride? Is it adjustable while on the truck or do I need to take the entire strut out? I do have the diff drop installed so I don't know if raising the shocks would be bad on my CV axles or not... I actually installed 2 brand new ones today :D I would love for my truck to sit level.

I think you can use some spring compressor and compress the springs and readjust the lower perch and clip. Might be dangerous if the compressor breaks. Have to use a lot of caution. When I look at the 5th gen trd pro, the driver is a notch up than the pass side.

Safer to take it off and use a spring compressor. Yes, it will raise the truck according to height .85, 1.75 and 2.5. Depending on height, you have to address rear height to ensure level, pos rake or neg rake.

Have you tried putting a daystar spacer in the rear spring yet? Usually takes 1 on the lean side to get a lot closer to not leaning.

What amount is your lean, left, right, 1" front, rear?

I'm sorry if you are talking to me. I may have used the wrong term. By rake, i mean its higher in the rear than the front. I haven't noticed it leaning to a side.

So over the past weekend, I changed both of my CV axles. You think I could handle raising the front shocks? ...taking part the struts, adjusting the shock, and reassembling it all, and putting it all back together? Of course I will need another alignment.

I was by your wording. Lean is side by side and RAKE is front to rear.

Now if your TOYTECS are at a 3" height on the bottom setting already, I wouldn't move it up. I would go more of rear spring bringing it lower. Especially if you off road with it. going over the 3" mark tends to start breaking CVs.

EDIT...Now if yours is a pavement runner you can put the clip up 1 notch, and yes you have to pull them out to do so.

I might be ok with bringing the rear down a bit because when its flexing, it rubs like a mofo in the rear fender. (thats something else I need to fix eventually) I do offroad a lot. How exactly does one lower the rear? I don't think I have adjustables back there. Hopefully that doesn't mean I need shorter springs. And I guess having the diff drop in the front doesn't matter? Does the diff drop allow me to go a little higher in the front?

so after much research, if i go the route of lifting the front up a bit more, i think instead of moving the shocks up a notch, i will add a spacer to the top plate, so i dont preload the spring, for better ride quality. How will that affect wheel travel vs adjusting the bilsteins?

Top hat spacer yes. Your diff drop gives you another .5" lift capable.

Others on here have gone higher, but, with an expense of axle replacement little more frequently.

So pick where you wish to have problems at for what you desire for your ride.
