0 to .85 on Bilstein 5100s w/ OME 885?

Hey all,

Per lots of reading, on my 03 V8 4x4 recently went with the OME 885s in the front, Toytec Superflex in the rears and paired with Bilstein 5100s (0 setting in the front). Running stock UCAs. I also have Daystar spacer in left rear to compensate for lean.

See pic below (on a slight decline). Just did the lift, so rear may still settle to level it out more but wondering if it looks like too much rake? Thoughts if its a bad idea to go to the .85 setting to get some additional lift to or go top plate spacer? Ride quality is amazing, alignment is in spec and don't really want to have to go for new UCAs if I don't have to.

Preloading the struts is not recommended at all when using lift springs. I have the same setup except 884s (V6 not V8) and your rake is less then mine but it will settle a bit
 
Not advised to do any preload with the 885 ( or any longer than stock spring ) and a top plate spacer may end up causing too much downtravel and CV binding at full droop. You're most likely stuck right around there. Drive it for a bit and see how the rear settles, I think it'll be fine with any sort of load, people, or gear in the back. Full tank of fuel?
 
was everything installed right? the front looks lower than what i would expect...should be equivalent to the 884s on a v6 but something doesnt look right. hey at least it isnt reverse rake and good luck.

if the rear settles it should like pretty mint! do front setups now settle by design?

Superflex rears may settle a little if new but probably not much. What are the ground to fender measurements for the front and rear? Pictures can be deceiving. Mine has about 1.5" of rake which works well for me.
 
i prefer a bit of rake too, especially because with a camping load or w.e. in the hatch, itll even out in theory. id say how the OP's is sitting, id prefer .25 or .5 less rake there - which might settle
 
I’m kind of in the same boat myself, and have almost the same exact rake. I have OME 2895E springs in the rear, and Tacoma springs in front. I’d like the front maybe 1/2”-3/4” higher, but there really isn’t many options to level it more without buying new Bilsteins and springs. I was thinking maybe the 884 springs might be a bit less lift to fix mine, where the 885 might have a reverse rake because I carry a lot of weight in the rear with the 2895E springs. My alignment is perfect, and I just got new wheels and tires so I’ll probably live with it. Like someone else mentioned, it’s way better than a reverse rake like I had prior to doing the OME springs in the rear!

get the 2883 (883) springs or the moog FJ front coils perhaps.

do you have any pics? i have the same rear springs im matching with 883 in front
 
The super flex springs will settle down after a few wheeling trips. Try tossing a few hundred pounds worth of gear/weight in the back and drive it around for a few days- try to flex the rear as much as possible.

Yep, full tank of fuel and I'll test it out with loading it up for a few camping trips and seeing how it settles in the rear.

Current measurements are as follows:

DF: 37.5"
PF: 37.5"
DR: 40"
PR: 40"

Going camping/offroading this weekend so loading up/flexing the rear so we'll see how she settles. Its only been a week since the install so hoping it'll level out a tad more.

I like the rake. Mine looks the same but with 883 and Dobinsons rear coils on a V6. When I load up dog and fridge and gear on the back, it sits pretty much level. I think rake when empty and level when full is the best way to do it.
 
Had the set up for 2 month, loaded stuff in the back - measurements are still the same as above.

Curious if anyone is running 5100s on .85 with OME 885s and running into issues?

Don't do it, it will ride like crap. This is why went with the Toytec 521600 3" Tacoma coils with a 1/2 top spacer, only have 1/2 of rake with the OME med rear.

Ok, good to know. Guess if I run that play with my current set up (OME 885s and 5100s on 0) I'll need new UCAs.
 
Have 5100's maxed in the front with new Moog stock springs all around and 1.5" daystar leveling kit in the back. Perfectly level. Personally, I rather cut of my own balls than drive with that rake!

Wouldn't the Moog FJ coils be considered a lift spring? 1" roughly longer than stock, 80 lb heavier spring rate? Trying to understand why preload on a lift spring is not advised, pretty sure 5100s are the same in the FJ and they use a spring that we use to lift. I'm running Moog FJ coils on 5100s with the ring in the third groove. Is that a problem? No issues so far and it's been a year.

Probably okay, I meant lift spring like the 885 is a 3" lift spring, the FJ spring is kinda still "OEM" as you mention same parts used for FJ. It puts lots of stress on the shock and they may not last long or ride well but if they work for you then that's all that matters!
