Information on manual to electric SEAT interchange?

I DID search an my wording continually bring's up the same result, which is inconclusive. So I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Donor vehicle AND recipient vehicle are both 2007.

Going from manual NON-airbag seat's, to electric, airbag leather. I am not positive if they're heated. I did not get a shot with visible center console to see heater dials.

So, my questions;

1) I'm assuming the general pre-wired status comes on 06 an later vehicles, so can I assume driver side is pre-wired for seat power?

2) I can tag cigarette lighter an power the passenger, not super concerned, or does the passenger become pre-wired at any point?

3) Is it possible/safe to grab a wiring harness from donor vehicle or make a simple harness for the seat airbags?

4) If they ARE heated, any info on supplying power for the factory style switches? Pre-wired or nah?

Just wondering what I'm in for. Thanks for any insight.

Was able to source the VIN # from donor vehicle. It was also an SR5.

They are most definitely leather an factory style seat's with airbag's. Pictures confirmed that much, that SR5 detail throws a wrench in my knowledge base. I seem to remember an SR5 cloth to SR5 leather swap would be like stupid lucky, if anyone can confirm part of this.

I don't think any SR5's came from the factory with leather. I would easily bet that a dealer would gladly sell a leather seat upgrade to somebody at purchase though.

I think what will be key for you is seeing if the center console has factory seat heater switches. If not, and I'm betting it won't, you're probably looking at a katzkin kit or something.

As far as being prewired, the fact that passenger's haven't been prewired in the past, or that vehicles don't come prewired for on board air, or seat heaters, or RSCA doesn't speak well to it being there. Also I was surprised to learn when switching from DD shelf to no DD shelf carpeting that it wouldn't fit. It didn't fit because the floor of the body on the non DD shelf didn't have the latch brackets to lock down the DD shelf. I didn't think to look at the mounting area, but I wouldn't think the bolt holes exist to install the DD shelf if the brackets don't either.

Bottom line is I don't think you're going to get a prewired passenger seat based on research I found when I was looking at doing something similar on an older 4runner I had. However, vehicles do come prewired for the AC inverter, so who knows.

I also think the ECU is probably going to be different for airbag seats and not. Unless I'm mistaken, if you don't have seat airbags, you also don't have curtain airbags. So I would imagine you're going to freak out the computer if you introduce 1 and not another.

Adding leather will be easy, adding after market seat heaters as well. But when you're talking about adding airbags, I think thats a bridge too far.

I can't help on 1, 2, & 4, but:

3) Leave the airbags alone. Airbag controllers come hard-coded from the factory and are nearly impossible to crack:boom: Dealers can't even add or subtract airbags without factory support. It's even kind of a pain in the a$$ to swap modules.

The air bag controller lives under the center console in front of the shifter. There are two different ones. The earlier models 03 and 04 with less plugs and wires before a piller, b piller and side seat air bags became standard. They both have yellow encased wiring. If any air bag has been deployed the module will need to be reset. Myairbags.com did mine. Swapping them out is also no big deal if you get all the wires and all the extra bags with covers.

These seat's are 100% OEM. The vendor doesn't provide photo's unless requested, kind of a dumb system or I could have answered my own question about the heaters. The seat's are not cover's or aftermarket. I believe SR5 had a factory option for leather, but I wasn't sure beyond that if they all came heated or that was also an option.

I am not confused about the seat's themselves, but more the integration possibilities. I was less concerned with the airbag addition, but if it was a simple transparent option, I would connect them you know? I will ignore the fact these seat's have airbag's after my back breaks lifting them in I'm sure.

I had someone on FB page mention the SR5 harness is adaptable, meaning he thought it would be pre-wired on both sides. I have seen people say their SR5 had factory leather before, I've seen plenty of them in junkyards online with leather seat's (trashed). I'm just trying to get an idea what goes into the same year SR5, to make one function with power seat's an seat airbag's, opposed to a manual track/non-airbag model.

The seat's arrive in a week worst case, I'll just dive in an sort it out if nothing pans out between now an then.

Interesting, the VIN lookup tool I used, did not list leather seat's as a port option. So I am curious to see what these are specifically.

I will take the VIN to the dealer today, I have some parts to grab so I'll get a window sticker printed.

At the end of the day, I'm happy they will work. I will be a bit disappointed if they aren't heated, but the condition was too good to bicker about. After 5 months these were superior to any seat I've found. I'll update this if I discover anything on a window sticker, thank you for the insight.

Alright, bit of information here.

It appears that the donor vehicle (SR5) did originally come with cloth. So, window sticker only showed it had power cloth seat's. It seems they swapped seat's in at some point like I'm doing. I am hopeful these ARE heated as well, an will be working to conclude how I make the heaters work if my truck is/isn't pre-wired.

My 2005 SR5 is new to me and it came with manual grey leather seats front and back. Not sure it came like that from the dealer. Been wanting to replace the driver seats foam and cover since both are trashed and add a AM seat heater. Especially now that I know the OEM leather ones comes with air bags that would cause issues.
