Inv4drZm Senior Member Dec 23, 2020 #2 Apparently those exist to protect the catalytic converters, that and/or maybe to add some rigidity. In any case they aren't important, I haven't had mine on for years because of my aftermarket skid plates.

WarChild New member Dec 25, 2020 #3 I think they just add rigidity. When I installed my skid plates I had to remove them for good.
