I'd go with the SE...

The XREAS made a big difference in the ride and handling IMO.

Much Nicer wheels on the SE.

And Power Seats !!!

Don't skimp.

We will test drive both again tomorrow, but it is looking towards the SE. Checked for a 50 mile radius for different options and configuations and they seem to be all the same. I think I would have to leave this tri-state area for different. Unfortuatly the Ltd is to much $$$. But thanks for all your help. Will let you know tomorrow what the final outcome is.

Are you sure the limited has the big brakes? I seem to recall the sales pamphlet saying the Limited did not have them for some reason.

If you wait for the 2008 models, ALL models will come standard with side and curtain airbags. I'm glad Toyota is making it standard across the line now.

If I were to go out and buy a new 4Runner, I'd special order an SE. Nothing wrong with my SR5, I just ended up spending a lot trying to get the features I wanted in the beginning.

That might make the change to a 2008 worth the extra expense. Where is this info published? Any other changes?

I only found that minor changes will be made. (brake switch, possible grill change.)

+1 on this. I drove the SR5 first and was truly disapointed with the ride. Very soft and bouncy, car like. Then drove the Sport. Totally different feel, firmer ride, better vehicle stability, not bouncy. Bought it. Sport is worth in imo.

I think the Sport is the best value in the 4Runner line-up - and this is coming from a Limited owner.

What's with all the SR5 haters? LOL just kidding.

I opted for the SR5 because of the soft ride compared to my daily driver. My DD has a "sport-tuned" suspension and after driving it during the work week, I needed a vehicle so soothe my back.

My dd also has a dark interior similar to the SE. My 4Runner has the taupe cloth interior which I think is more upscale...although taupe leather seats would have been nice.

BTW, the new Highlander is out. Have you and your wife checked it out? I think there is more rear legroom and headroom than the 4Runner. Oddly enough the price on a Sport Highlander V6 AWD is comparable or more expensive than a V8 4Runner SE 4WD. [per CarMax.com]

I would have swore that the 18" wheels included the bigger front brakes, but now that you've asked, I can't find any proof of that. It looks like only the SE has the bigger front rotors/pads.

We went today and picked the Sport. Thanks for the info it did help... paid alot of attention to the ride and feel of the vehicle.

We did test drive the Highlander about 2 weeks ago. The ride was smooth but seemed to be more of a mini van type then an SUV. The cross-overs are like the new station wagons. Plus they are not good for towing and it is AWD. Ground clearence could also be an issue.
