Is it true that the head gasket recall on the 3.4

expires after a certain number of miles? I spoke with a guy at my stealership today and he said that since my engine had 146,000 miles on it they wouldn't honor the recall. BTW, my head gasket is leaking. Any chance I might get Toyo USA to change their minds on this? Edit It's my valve cover gasket that's leaking. No recall there, I suppose. I was reading over an estimate on work that needed to be done on the truck that the previous owner had done at the dealership and misread the sheet. At least it ain't the head cover gasket.

My 93 had 116,000 miles on it when the head gasket blew. I beleive it was October of 2001.

The dealer took care of everything including a loaner for the 3 weeks they had it. I also replaced the timing belt and waterpump at this time and only paid for parts since everything was disassembled. They put a whole new short block in for me. Total cost to Toyota, $4200+:driving:
 
Apples & Oranges

We are talking about two different types of re-calls here. It is my understanding that the 3.4 re-call, the problem should show up early, i.e. within 20,000 miles and the 3.0 can happen much much later. So my answer would be I don't know if the re-call expired or not on the 3.4. Hopefully other members can chime in.
