Regarding this rattling issue which I have not yet personally experienced; it sounds like it must originate with the lid, maybe once the springs lose a little tension?
Seem like a few pieces of one-sided adhesive felt molded around the perimeter of the lip of the box should work.

When your other vehicle is a Wrangler- as is the case with me- you tend to become quite adept at resolving rattles, squeaks and clunks.

the bolts are too long. take out the ones supplied by the manufacturer and replace with ones about an inch shorted.

I didn't have this problem. Just an FYI.

Old thread, but I just installed my console vault. What a great product! Thank you again to all the great folks on here who post awesome info/mods for the rest of us to benefit from!
Here is my vault, I needed a secure way to lock my gun up when I have to leave it in the 4runner. I wanted to share a pic that showed it holding the gun. Since all the photos I have seen don't show that. This is my Glock G26. The pic doesn't show that there is easily 2-3 inches above that. So I believe it would do a good job at containing bigger gun models as well.
Cheers,
KS 4Runner

How much storage space do you lose? Thinking about longer items like flashlight/attention-correction stick.....

Did you get the version with the key or the combo? Impressions?

This looks like it still allows access to the electrical plug. Is this correct? thx

You don't lose much storage space at all. Basically the width of the steel since it fits very snug in the console. It obviously stops a little shorter height-wise for the lid to clear the tissue holder on the factory lid, but not enought to make that much of a difference.

I got the 3-digit combo. They have an optional 4-digit as well. I did not feel the extra money for a 4-digit combo was worth while and I don't like the idea of keeping track of another key. I am happy with the basic 3-digit combo.

Yes, you still have access to the plug inside. The mini change holder is kind of un-usable since the side slot is blocked, but I did not use that anyway.

I agree with all points made on the above post. I also went with the 3 digit combo lock. A note on the turn dial/lock, I was surprised how tight and smooth the lock mechanism is, it looks like it could be loose and cheap from the photos but it is not all all. I was surprised how tight, smooth turning, and well made it was. Again over all this is a great mode and very well made product, IMHO.

Anyone have a picture of the access to the electrical plug with the vault installed? It looks like there is a cover over it. Does that cover just snap on and off?

I don't remember where I saw the picture, but I think I recall it just being a square cut out that allows the factory 120v socket to peek out of

Here is a pic I posted last year of mine. I would get a better one for you, but my wife is driving the Runner right now. Anyway, in this pic you can see half of the cutout for the power outlet. It is just a square cutout, therefore allowing full access to the outlet just like it is when the console vault is not installed. The flap that is covering the power outlet from the factory has full range of motion.

Link to pic- What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I see how that works now. Thanks for the clarification.

I have a 30SF and it fits fine.... but I would never carry it (our any other pistol) there.
