SR5 premium would be my vote unless you like the extra luxuries in the Limited. If you're not going to mod it much with bumpers or crazy lift I would suggest waiting for a 2020 SR5 Premium. Honestly Android Auto and Apple Carplay along with the other upgrades are worth the wait IMO.
First post as I just joined. Just came home from dealer in wNY. Really hard bargaining here compared what you guys are getting. I had to beat up several dealers to get what I did. Grabbed a 19 OR Premium in Midnight Black. KDSS, upgraded mats, running boards, and it came with the Pro rack (no moonroof).
MSRP of $43K almost to the penny. Paid $38.65K plus TTL.
I couldn’t get any area dealers below $39.7K for a week for the same model minus Pro rack. One dealer had 18 TR4 on lot but no black OR Premiums. They swapped with a dealer in Syracuse and gave me terms of $39.9K (with Pro rack). No signature or deal was formalized but they brought it in under the expectation that I’d buy. Took two days but on the second when I was confirmed it was en route I texted the sales person and let them know I needed another $1K off or I was walking away. Kind of a jerk move since I figured they were pot committed with time/money to dealer swap and they really didn’t need another TR4 on the lot. He folded up pretty quickly at that point and gave me another $250 to ensure I didn’t move to another local dealer. The GM delivered the vehicle and told me the move was well played and that the sales person made a mistake not getting me to sign before the swap. GM was off that day and wouldn’t have green lit it I guess. At that point I pulled out the financing from our FCU. I have a prime score but wanted to let them think they might make a few bucks on the back end while I drove down the pricing. GM at that point just laughed and said it was time to get me off the lot with my vehicle.
Who knows. Maybe they still snookered me but based on what I read here it’s a decent deal.

2019 TRD Pro - $42,200
Bought a white TRD Pro on Labor Day for $42,200. MSRP was just over $48,400. They made a little bit back on my trade but it was still a great deal. Several other dealers in the Boston area wouldn't even give me $500 off MSRP.

Pretty good deal for sure. 15% off MSRP would put you at $36,500, so you might've been able to squeeze a little more, but who knows for sure.

I was at the point where the discounts didn't move with the competing dealers. Some dealers gained an edge from their low admin fees. Others worked on the trade value (Started at $11,500). A dealer ended up losing their sale because their finance department kept trying to mess with the financing. Was all set to buy, even with $11,500 trade , and financing tried to hit me up for 6.3% Then they revisited and came back with 4.89% from the same bank that had already gave me preapproval. That chunk of change alone was like a $1,700 difference. Only 12-13% off but I thought still a good deal when said and done with....

This weekend, 2019 SR5 Premium, black on black 3rd row seating, top cross bars, stupid side steps... 37,500 OTD all takes, dmv fees, etx. Added a 4yr bumper to bumper warrenty, making it 7 year 75k total with zero deductible windshield replacement, dent fix, key replacement, etx for another 1200 on top of the 36,500

My 2017 TRD ORP was recently totaled in an accident (everyone is okay). So I looked for a bit and found a barely used 2019 TRD-Pro w/ 2k miles in voodoo. My totaled 4 runner had front rear bumpers/sliders, RR, sPod and a few other goodies. All will transfer over.
Vehicle was bought out of state so price below includes TTL + shipping (~$750).
$46,880 out the door.

Goes to show it is more important to compare the whole deal rather concentrating on a specific metric such as them heavily discounting the purchase price.

Also they came with in $500 of what I wanted for my trade so that brought $10.5k positive equity on the deal.
I am smitten with my ruby red beast.

That's 15% off of MSRP. That's a good deal. You might be able to wait it out a little longer and get a few more percentage points off, especially when the 2020's land. Throw them an offer at $39k, and see what they say. That would be 17% off of MSRP, which sounds like might be possible, given some of the postings on this thread.

Picked up a new 2019 TRD Off Road Premium last night from a local dealer. MSRP was $42,214 and I paid $36,489.72 + TTL. I was in a bit of a hurry to purchase it and got them to that price in one day all via email. It was hands down the most painless new car purchase I've made to date.

Yes. Tell them what you want to pay. If I were you, I'd tell them you want 17% off MSRP. That will set the bar. Then try to land at 15% off.

As already stated, start with percentage off MSRP. Make them send you an invoice showing OTD with all of their charges. I had offers of $35.5 for an ORP but their OTD was $2k higher than other dealerships quoting $36.5-$37.5.

What I did.. called them all gave them my price.. one gave me the truck.
Same discount here, sticker was 42,500... paid 37,500 OTD including tax/lic/fees
