Rear window help!
This may have been covered but we're on vacation with the 4runner and the rear window will NOT roll up. It bounces back down again as if it detected an obstruction but no obstruction exists.
Any ideas? Has anyone seen that before??
Thanks in advance.

Quick way to get the window up is to take it almost to the top and quickly "bump" the switch in tiny increments until it goes up all the way. There is a way to reset the limits unfortunately I am on my cell and cannot search for you. Good luck.

Thanks I did get it pretty close by doing that. Hopefully someone can tell me how to reset the limits or I can look when I get to the hotel tonight.
Appreciate the input...so frustrating!

Try This:
1. Push Down and Hold the Power Window Switch until the window completely opens.
2. Pull and hold up the window switch until the window closes. Continue holding the switch for about 1 Sec.
I belive the user manual has instructions for initializing the window jam protection after power has been lost.

I'm having the same issue as the OP.
I hope this fixes it for me, it would save me a trip to the dealer!

@ DannyLlama
if it's actually an obstruction in the track just get yourself some compressed air, rubber cleaner, a rag, and a slotted screwdriver. Blow out the tracks with the air, then spray the rubber cleaner on the rag then put it over the screwdriver and clean inside the tracks. Maybe double up the rag over the screwdriver so it won't poke through and tear the rubber stripping.

Thanks I'll try that as well..
It happened after we were taking a TV back to Costco and I closed the window too close to the box and the window retreated back all the way down, it wont go back up since.

Ah yeah, that's probably not dirt in the track then. I have to clean the side window tracks that way all the time from getting mud and dust in them while wheeling.

That's good to know... I never thought dirt would give resistance to the windows, you learn something new everyday

Yep....hopefully W Willy nailed it.
Here's that pdf from a TSB
T-SB-0279-09 '10 4Runner Initialization of Back Door Power Window.pdf
Might try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery if that doesn't work the first time
@ Mchang
had this same problem and it was said to be misaligned and that the dealership had to fix it but didn't say how exactly and might be your problem Danny. Rear window question.

I hear that! I had to take mine to the dealership for the first time last November . I waited til there was 3 hours left on the last day in my extended warranty before I had the nerve to bring it in for the front transfer case seal leaking.
They thought I was crazy with the big "DO NOT WASH " note taped to the steering wheel and taking 15-20 minutes crawling up underneath with a flashlight and mirror to check their work when I picked her up 10 days later.

If you have a limited...I had this issue last week. My button on the rear hatch was wedged down so much it kept going back down. Unstuck the button and problem solved
