TRD Skid Plates...Who
painted the 1/4-in.-thick silver powder-coated aluminum from the original color to something else?
They look undone to me, so I did this.
Who else painted theirs?

You take it off? Or painted in on the car? I plan on using black Line-X (truck bedliner) on mine.

I'm planning on doing something with it, but not sure what yet. I do like how yours turned out. I may do the same thing, but I'd like to try to get the TRD part to match the inferno paint I think.

seems kinda pointless to dip a skid plate, unless you have no intention of going off of a paved road. if you wanna change the color, paint it.

With it being so thick, was it heavy? Or do I need two people to drop it and lift it back up to install it?

It's aluminum man... No need to bench press 225 10 times to remove a skid

NO issues with weight.
You can handle it if you have a floor jack to place under it to hold the plate while you remove all 4 bolts.
If, no jack, a second person would be helpful.
I have a jack so I used it!

My plan
I plan on painting or dipping the letters in red to match the hubs on the wheels. Not sure if I'll paint or dip the whole thing for a different background to the TRD letters.

Mine does go off the paved roads but no big rocks here in Louisiana
So I haven't had any extreme angles to encounter yet.....
When I dipped it, I didn't know if it was going to stay that color, so it would be easy to remove.
Also, IMO, if I scrape it up, either painted or dipped, it would have to be redone.
So, I am good with dipped (for now).

Thanks for the input fellas, I'm probably going to try black lineX bedliner on my skid plate.

I would have left it alone, especially when its going to get all ding and scratch up. It also look a lot better in the OEM colorway imo.

I can always touch it up as anyone with painted or dipped skids would probably do.
Orig skid was black just like your OEM skid and on a black truck the silver/grey looked out of place, and couldn't really see the TRD logo....
The black on my truck IMO blends in alot better than the color it came in.
But hey that's your opinion.

Heh, even if it was steel you could do it solo. I installed the steel BB skids by myself and bench-pressed them all into place then held them there with a knee or shoulder while I threaded the bolts.

Personally I like the after look. Agree that it fits in better with the all black truck.
