Intuitive Parking Assist - stays on or shuts off?

Does the Parking Assist stay on once the button is pressed? (When you turn the car on and off.) Or do you need to press it each time you turn the car on/ each time you want sonar when parking?

Stays on when you press the button. But to state the obvious only comes on when in reverse.

Reminds me I need to take my button out to make space for a switch...
