We had a little storm last night, the 4Runner took a bit of damage...

Well we had the mother of all hail storms last night and the 4Runner took an ass whooping. Golf ball to baseball size hail, it was crazy. It tore up the siding and broke a bunch of windows in the station. Anyone that had a sedan lost their back glass. It's going to be a long and painful process getting this taken care of I imagine.

Ha, yeah I thought of that last night. And I also have to hand it to Weathertech, all the visors and hood deflector survived without a scratch. Everyone else that had other brand visors were totally destroyed and all over the parking lot.
 
Ugh, my heart hurts for you.

If every panel is damaged, how does insurance not consider totaling it?

I left my work yesterday apparently minutes before it hailed there as well and I escaped damage "this" time.

This year there have been 3 hail storms, when the usual is 1.....this is a weird year...
 
Man that's terrible. I feel like I dodged a bullet then, since we're not too far from NOVA... Hope this can get resolved quickly -- good luck!
 
That's rough - I'm sorry that happened. Were you in your vehicle at the time?

Good luck with the repairs. I wonder if they'll total it? Either way, I bet you'll be driving something that looks shiny and new soon!

Some of those look like they can't be rolled out.

We get those storms routinely here in CO. this time of year.
I keep several horse blankets on hand to throw over my vehicles when I sense it is going to hail bad; saved me damage lots of times.
<<< I don't know why but the Burb is impervious to ANY hail; never even a little dent.

Does insurance even cover that? Someone told me that damage like that falls under the "acts of God" clause and is not covered. Is that true?

If it is covered, it's gotta be totaled. No way all those dents can be taken out with paintless dent removal. With a new vehicle, every panel would have to be replaced.

Let us know what your agent says. Are you covered?

there is a lot of incorrect advice about insurance on the internet (not covering storm damage, rate increases when not at fault, not covering off-road, etc...), your policy will list the things that are not included so read your policy or call your insurer and ask.

to answer your question though, no its not true. if you have comprehensive insurance (other than collision) it will be covered unless its specifically excluded in your policy for some reason. stuff like this is why i keep my otc deductible at $50, i dont like the idea of having to pay a lot out of pocket for stuff that's not my fault

My wife's VW Tiguan was totaled in March by a hale storm. It looked very similar to yours, but it was a 2009 and valued at $12K. Took out the front and rear windows and the panoramic sun roof, which then filled the inside with water. Insurance covered it all.

I have Statefarm and they traveled in adjusters from all over the country to handle the load. I had a check within a week and I'm now the proud owner of a 2016 Subaru Outback. Given the value of the T4R I don't see this as a total loss. It's amazing what they can do with paintless dent repair these days.
 
Had that happen to mine on the fourth day of owning her brand new. Sitting at a stop sign it hit and was gone. I threw up in my mouth. PDR guys fixed everything perfectly. I asked them not to fix the roof and they gave me that money from the insurance check and I bought my flat utility rack from BajaRack to cover it up. That was my first mod. Good luck on your repairs.
 
It is all covered under my policy and isn't doesn't go against me cause there was nothing I could do about it. The more I look the more I find, not sure if most of these will come out without paint work. There are a few that hit so hard it cracked the paint.
 
Easy-peasy for a pdr guy. Should be more than covered under insurance if you had coverage for hail damage.

PDR guy will probably be around 1500 bucks to get those dents out, but you shouldn't be able to even tell they were there once he's done if he's good at what he does. This is one you'll probably drop off at the pdr shop and leave for a few days. And, the sooner you get the work done, the easier it will be for him to get the dents out. Heat cycling the metal will make it harder to get them out completely.

Now, having said that, hopefully none of the hail cracked or chipped the paint beyond the clear coat. If it did, then you're probably looking at a re-spray, and this might be enough to total the 4runner.
