Oh man, I'd hate to get caught out in the open, on foot, in a storm like that! That would be brutal.

Thinking of buying this car cover for my 4runner and Xterra. Living in Denver, almost every year one of my vehicles sustain hail damage. My wife's new hundai santa fe needed a new roof. Truck is never the same once it goes to a body shop. Sometimes I wonder if it is better to lease a car so I don't have to worry about car depreciation due to repair history that will eventually show up on car fax. Never had to worry about hail damage when I was living in Toronto,Canada.

Got the estimate done yesterday, $10,250 worth of damage. Replacement of the hood, roof, fender, door skin, mirror, roof rack caps, both tail lights and of course the windshield. The rest will get PDR and paint on 80% of the truck. It was at 30% of the value of it and it needs to be above 60% to be considered for being totaled. Suppose to be getting all OEM parts and no aftermarket which is good. I'm very worried on how this will turn out with so much work being done to it as I am very anal about the quality of body work. If it isn't perfect like before the damage I'll trade it in for a new Trail.
Bummer man, we had our series of hail storms in San Antonio this year. I suffered 9 dents total (luckily) out of the 3 major ones we had.
A coworker of mine has a white SR5 and was able to have the shop snag a trail hood for her replacement. She suffered similar damage to yours.

Yeah I'm going to have them put on a Trail hood. It's the same price I'll just have to buy the insert pieces which is like $90 or so.

OMG, so sorry! Living on the west coast I have never experienced hail like that. Just crazy! Wish you the best and I hope it comes out like new.

Holy crap dude, that's brutal. Glad you weren't driving and have that fall on you. Here in Buffalo we don't have to worry about hail too much, but I have had some close calls with trees and basketball nets. Lot of money you're going to have to shell out, but at least you're safe.

Why thank you, we were thinking about how much it would have messed somebody up if they were caught in it when it was coming down. Like fast pitch baseballs. Luckily I only have to shell out my deductable ($500) the rest is covered.

Well after two long months of waiting patiently I finally got her back. I was very anxious to see what it looked like since they practically rebuilt the body and I am very picky when it comes to body and paint work. So the short list was a new hood, new roof, new fender, 2 door skins, 2 tail lights, new windshield, and a lot of paintless dent removal. The estimate started off at $10,250 and the final bill was just over $13,000. I did get a scooped hood out of the deal which I think looks badass. When I first went to pick it up I went over it with a fine tooth comb finding every minor flaw, which they happily obliged and took care off (that's what the yellow tape in the pics are). Over all I am very happy with how it turned out and I'm glad to have it back.

Yeah I was a little disappointed when I first went to pick it up. The body work was phenomenal just some junk in the clear that wasn't up to my standard. They kept the truck, gave me a rental and addressed every thing I pointed out. I think they figured out how anal was after my inspection and took the extra time to make sure it was perfect before calling me back.

Congrats, I'm facing the same fate in the next few weeks (currently in week 11 of repairs). Glad to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

My biggest take away so far is shops will "estimate" repair time and then multiply it by 200% once your vehicle is spread all over the shop lol.
Glad you are soon getting yours back! I too will be going through mine with a magnifying glass.

That's how I was when my door got smashed in, in june. There's a little junk in the clear on my quarter panel I still need them to address. I'd rather be anal and get them to do the work, then to have to live with subpar work.

Nah I think I'm going to hang onto to it for a while. The work turned out great and it was nothing structural and it's also guaranteed for life. The truck has all I need and now it has the look I want so I'll save my money for the time being.

Damn man that sucks. The guy at the body shop said it was stripped down just like that but he didn't get a chance to take any pics of it. It's bad when you pull in and the say "Hey you gotta come take a look at this"
Agreed! I know a lot of people wouldn't pay no mind to it as long as it's the same color and shiny but I'm not one of those.

I get paid to make pixel perfect things, so I obsess over stuff that's glossed over by most. So trust me the paint shop hates me because I spot all the areas normal people wouldn't look at.
Hence I got some paint work that needs some love in a few weeks here and there.
Plus the hell I live through because I like to wheel my truck...but arghh....paint chips and scratches!!!!
