(Group Buy) Techstream diagnostic cables to fit your win-7, 8 or 10 (32-64) OS

Hey Tech team!

I did a write-up about a 'TechStream coding & Diagnostics Cable, that I purchased back in June. This is the very first one I bought that actually worked. The three others that I bought were said to work on win-7 64-bit, IF... you built a 'Virtual XP platform' ...but they did not! 'This one works!!!

I've talked with the vender (from ebay)... I was doing something wrong during the install process, but he emailed me right back with-in 15 minutes, and told me what I needed to do first, and it got straightened out. With this one, you can customize your truck's ECU settings, clear faults, trouble-shoot, do code reading...etc!

So I talked to him (Darren Mason), and asked him if he would be interested in us having a 'Group-Buy', and he said that he would be. Now we need to work out some of the details as far as how many pledges we could list, talk about the pricing (based on the list quantity), and so forth!

Now I paid $34.99 for mine; but I'm just so happy that this one works... I have four now lol! So if you think you would be interested in having one for your win-10 32/64 laptop, and putting away that old Dell XP 32-bit laptop (maybe donating it to the Smithsonian institute...), just kidding :jk::yo:

I'd be in for one.

I don't have a windows laptop, so all the images I run are through OSX or Linux. Windows 10 on VM would be preferred, but I can run 7-8 if needed.

I have one working but it's a bit buggy, both on XP and 7... it is definitely a hardware issue, so I'd be willing to try out a new set.
 
I think it would be really more useful if you post the instructions/reply you got form the vendor rather than the group buy. The cheap cables work, getting windows to pickup the drivers is the bigger hassle. I bought one for 20 bucks on amazon and Windows 10 and a Windows 7 laptop just picked it up as Serial Cable. I couldn't get the Firmware tool to pickup the cable. Though on a virtual XP it worked for me. I actually spent more time trying to get the cable to work than the key FOB reprogramming I did.
 
my eBay cable looks identical to that, however, it came with a download link to a VMware virtual image of a Win7 machine running Techstream... works wonderfully on my Linux/Win10 laptop.. FWIW, was also cheaper than $35
 
I'd be interested in a group buy! I have an XP VM set up currently, which more or less works but always seems a bit wonky (and I'm nervous to dig in too much, since I've had issues with other hardware not liking the timing of virtualized USB -> serial comms).

Hi Mr_Assault,

Because you mentioned that, I just went over the details in his letter to me; but there is some Confidential information in it that may ...compromise his vendor status, sales volume (online), and other contractual agreement details.

Techstream Coding and diagnostic cable Group buy!

Hey Tech-team guys & gals,

I'll be listing ALL the names that have showed an interest or pledged to be in the "Techstream Coding and Diagnostics cable Group-Buy" shortly; just need a few more names to list before really getting started. Also, our Techstream vendor is becoming a new member, which may take a couple days before he can post so I'd like to see that process become completed!

I'd also like to thank all of the members here who have expressed an interest in having a group buy on what I think would be a valuable investment in our tool-boxes because you can't trouble-shoot w/o the right tools! So just so I’m clear, this item is the OBD 2 cable AND also the software necessary to basically have the Toyota tech stream scan tool on your personal laptop? I currently use a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with windows 10 so I’m assuming it would be compatible with this product? And this product would allow you to make adjustments to the vehicle like seatbelt chimes and other customizable features? Is there a subscription fee or is it a one time purchase and it’s yours?

I just want to be the same page. I would love a product like this.

Your friend "Darren Mason" is buying the cables on Alibaba or Aliexpress. If you are wanting to save a couple dollars, find a vendor on there and make a small order.

The exact cable you linked to on eBay is selling for ~$25 on Amazon Or this link . The upside of ordering on Amazon will be no questions asked returns.

The cable is nothing special. OP still needs a VM to run it and can't even post what he did wrong and what instructions he got to fix a simple issue.

I'm not saying the cable does not work, but anyone here can buy that $25 dollar cable and still get the same results.

OP is holding off the instructions the vendor gave him, because that is the selling point.

For the most part your right. Although, No virtual machine needed. The correct drivers, straightforward instal on all windows, a fancy cd case, and the “registration key” to let you do live data is what ur paying for. As far as the legality of the software you can decide for yourself.
