Any info on ride height difference when upgrading from 265 to 285?

Obviously depends a little on air pressure but wouldn’t it just be (diameter 285-diameter 265) / 2 (because you’re only getting half the change from the bottom side of tire that makes a difference in height?)

Not quite. A tire is 265/70R17, 265mm width, 70% sidewall ratio, 17" wheel.
265 * .7 = 185.5 sidewall height
285 * .7 = 199.5 sidewall height
199.5 - 185.5 = 14mm difference, which equates to 0.55"

Keep in mind tire sizes can vary manufacturer to manufacturer too.
But I can tell you going from a 265 to a 275 was a noticeable difference on a daily driver, and the same again for going to 285 from 275.

It all depends on the exact tire. There are pretty substantial differences between brands and between P vs LT both with respect to how tall a tire is and how wide it is.
A 265 70 can be anywhere between less than 8 wide and 9 wide, like a 285 (!).
A 275 70 can be anywhere from 31.7 to 32.4 tall and so on and so forth.
When you are splitting hairs, this kind of difference does matter.
So with 285, some are barely over 32.5" tall and others are over 33". I bet width varies a great deal as well.

I'm on a 2F\1R inches of lift on a SR5P4x4. Previously had Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tires in stock 265\70\17 31.7", now on Toyo Tires Open Country RT in 285\70\17 33"

Good to know! I'm gonna go ahead with 285s! I hope 9 inch wide with 1 offset wheels will work as well.

Nice catch. Corrected. That's what I get for trying to do math before I've had coffee.
It's possible, but also very dependent on which tire you're choosing, whether it's at the high or low of the size range, and what you consider minor. To some people a BMC is minor, but there are people who think you're not wheeling properly unless there's a tire in the air or the frame is flexing too!
Nope. You might be able to compare tires directly some place like TireRack, but that implies they have the data for your desired manufacturer, tire model, size, and load range available. Their tire information is limited for a lot of the AT tire lines, so I was stuck coming up with my own comparison spreadsheet. Best you can do is go to the manufacturer page for every tire you're interested in and stuff the data all in a spread sheet. It's exactly what I had been accumulating for the majority of the beginning of this year. Sadly I deleted the spreadsheet when I bought the tires, so don't have it to share.
