SCS ray10 with -38 offset

Hi guys, my 18 ORP has a 3” toytec lift kit and I’m wondering if I’ll have any issue running SCS Ray10 with -38 offset and 275/70 BF Goodrich tires since it’s really hard to catch a sale on these wheels with -10 offset. its been like a year with no luck.
Thanks

That's likely going to rub pretty badly on the body mount at full lock. I run a -12 wheel with a 285 that rubs. The additional negative offset on a -38 more than eclipses the difference between a 275 and a 285

Im also debating between -10mm or -38mm offset wheels. From what I read, 38mm can work with these conditions on 285/70/17

1. Remove mud flap
2. Aggressive BMC
3. Angle cut the black rocker cover

But if you want 295/70/17
1. Same as above
2. Pinch weld mod

There’s a few vids on YouTube regarding the pinch weld mod.

to get 285/70/17 to fit, is the same as getting 295s and 285/75/70s to fit on those rims. Might as well go bigger.

Tire size isn't really what dictates the necessity for a BMC.... it's the wheel offset generally.

For SCS wheels, anything with a -38mm offset will need it, no question about it. I have SCS wheels with a -38mm offset - it required a BMC.

I ran 285/70/17's on 0mm offset, with NO lift and I was fine after trimming the front bumper quite a bit. Hopefully that sheds some light regarding what you need to do.

I have SCS wheels with -10 offset, 265/70R17 Falken Wildpeaks and no lift, just stock TRD OR suspension and there was a huge amount of rubbing. No BMC needed, but a good amount of trimming.

-38 is borderline bro dozer specs lol. JK. You can look at the possibility of aftermarket UCAs, finding an alignment tech (easier said than done) that will move your caster forward 3 or 4 degrees, then trimming your front bumper cover such as they did in this link.
5th Gen 4Runner Bumper Wheel Well Trimming and Cutting - Step by Step
There are no guarantees and it's always trial and error in these situations.
The other side of the coin is you could have a dozen testimonials from people who have done it with "nooooo problem bro".
The main thing is to put what ever OCD you might have aside, and be ready to cut some plastic.
I went with the SCS F5 that has the minimal offset, no BMC, and had a 285 AT cooper work well.
Switched to the same size Cooper MT and it rubs in certain situations now.
At this point in the mod game I don't give AF anymore and just roll with it.
An aftermarket offroad bumper also helps a lot with forward clearance FWIW. But that may be a mod your not willing to get into yet.
Good Luck!

Im running the SCS Ray10 w/ -38 offset. You will more then likely need a BMC (I already had one before going to the -38). The reason I went with the -38 is to keep the tires off off the UCA's since I'm running 35x12.5.

I have SCS F5 -10mm offset with 285's and did not need a BMC ... I would suggest to be patient a wait for a release.

They're releasing the wheel you want today 1/22

Good luck !

Your lift is irrelevant, offset is your challenge here. You will need a BMC because of basic geometry of pushing the wheel away from the well. Having an ORP, your front fender will not be trimmed from port like a TRDP, so you'll need to do that as well (trim/push, takes 20 minutes). The BMC is a bit more difficult, but if you have a cutter and a welder, it shouldn't take more than a couple hours of driveway time to knock out.

I'm about to do the same next week, F5s (-38) w/STT Pros at 295/70.

Here’s a comparison of stock body mount vs bmc. You can see how chopping gives you that much more space. The bmc picture also has a cut out on the flaps.

That's a very different BMC, why did you leave the length of the BM and not cut the end off back to the bushing? That is where most all of the rubbing occurs.
