You may have autostart and not know it

A valet accidentally triggered my autostart and that's how I learned I had it. I took it to a dealership and they said I did not. It was not listed on my window sticker which I still possess.

6 months later, with the vehicle off and no one in it, I just pressed the lock button on the factory key fob 3xs in quick succession and the vehicle started.

I have a 2016 Pro. Mine as well try it yourselves. I suspect a few of you will win the autostart lottery too.

I bet it was put in after the fact. Many aftermarket companies, using factory key fob too.

My understanding is that all 4runners equipped with the JBL Premium sound system have Remote Start. There are videos about it on Youtube. I have a 2021 TRD Offroad Premium (which does not have the premium sound system) and can confirm that it does not have Remote Autostart. My Limited 2019 does not have autostart.
I tried many times, had dealer look into it electronicaly. Wasnt there.
So, I installed my own.

That rule only applies to newer models with Entune 3.0 and it’s tied in with the RemoteConnect subscription.

Any older models had remote start as an independent option.
