The 2nd gen 3.0 basically uses cold air intake in stock form. You could put on a snorkel. That would be a cool version of the stock cold air intake.

well being as thats not a true cold air intake i would say no if the filter was open to free flowing air not behind the radiator support it would help. all you get with that set up is a better sound from your engine.

I have something pretty similar to that. And your right bad vision, It's not truely a cold air intake. But it definitely opens up your intake to take in more air, and take it faster then the stock airbox. It's defenitely worth it, especially when you spend $33

I was in the same boat and i did heavy research. I ended up getting an S&B intake. Its closed box intake. Very similar to the ebay intake but it has a big box around it. Personally i love it couldn't be any happier. Love the growl too. All together i spent around $183 not the best if your money tight but def worth the money. Best of luck!

Here's the ebay link for ya....

And here is a link to a guy on yotatech, his S&B intake install is just a bit down the page.

I was just offering a cheap way to do one. If you have the money then go for the K@N cold air intake and filter.

I also put an S&B in my 91 V6, pretty nice setup, went in very easy and looks good, performs well, throttle response is good and allowed a bit of timing advance... I have been thinking recently about how to have a way to seal the front of the box and allow a snorkel to come in from the side. This would be a pretty decent setup because you could simply take the front seal off when not offroading and you would have a sports intake. Something to think about ;)

Cheers,

Rob
