So if yall could please help me with this one.
So a couple weeks ago, we replaced the thermostat and water pump, and reset the timing. truck ran fine for a week or so, but today on the way home from school, i just suddenly heard a rapid clicking sound, like the pace (not sound or loudness) of a machine gun. sounds like a noise maker (but not loud). it is clicking not knocking and there is no vibration or grinding that i can tell from inside the cab.
This was accompanied by a loss of responsiveness and power to acceleration and is only audible when the accelerator is depressed. and the lower i push on the pedal, the louder (again, not loud, just louder) it gets. Also, as i push the pedal and the noise comes around, the temp gage spiratically moves left and right without any correlated performance issues; that is, besides the afore mentioned noise and lack of responsiveness. but it seems that the gage is just crazy and meaningless when i push the pedal; when i let off the pedal, the noise goes away, the car drives fine and the temp gage returns to normal temp and functionality.
I would sure appreciate any informed opinions. i am not very good with cars, but i got good with the forums and autozone when my friend and i spent the last month diagnosing and fixing my last problem.
