Your take on trading in a ltd for a trd pro

The more I look at the cement pro, the more I regret getting my limited edition although I live in a snowy city and I drive on pavements and highway a lot.


2017 ltd with pearl white, X-rea suspension, push start button, heated seats and full-time 4wd are all being quite helpful. However, the appearance of cement grey Pro is really appealing and I honestly don't know if this is the decision that I will be regretting making again in the future since a lot of guys have mentioned that the full-time 4wd system and interior features of ltd is really difficult to beat.

Do you guys think it is worth trading in my ltd for a pro?

Unless you have money to throw around I'd keep what you have and mod it the way you want. I've been in the same situation and said F it and wrote the check but looking back, with all the vehicles I've had I could have bought a few Mclaren 720's ;)

My vote is to keep what you have and enjoy it. A positive for the LTD is the full time 4wd for snow and ice.

If you are willing to trade away all of the LTD's creature comforts and conveniences for a more Spartan and more off-road ready vehicle over the paint color, it's your money ...

We went through the same conversation when we went with the TRD ORP.

The only time I really notice the loss of these features, is when I have been driving my Camry LE which has had these feature for generations...

Theres no doubt that off road premium is the best bang for the buck! The trd pro is really just a dressed up off road model with a different suspension.

My wife has a 2016 Limited that sounds identical to yours and when I went to purchase a 4Runner for me earlier this year I had the same decision to make. I went with the Limited and have no regrets. I traded a pretty heavily modified FJ for mine so I was trying to move away from that for more comfort and daily drivability and the Limited hit that perfectly.
 
You could spend about $2k and make your LTD look like a TRD Pro
New front and rear fascia, remove the ground effects or whatever they're called on the sides... buy aftermarket 17" black wheels and AT tires.

You'd have a one of a kind.

If you're hung up on paint color, just get it wrapped for another 4k. You'd actually be able to do a true matte color then.

No way. The Full-Time 4WD on the Limited is a must have. I have contemplated a 2018 purchase myself and if i did so it would be a Limited for the Full-Time 4WD with a bumper, grill, hood, flare, etc. conversion to a trail/pro.

What made you decide to go with the Ltd? To me,TRD Pro is a replica of FJ and it will be the best to get some inputs from a previous owner.

I really like the looks of the OffRoad front end a lot more than the Limited I have but I will not give up the leather for plastic seating and the other amenities. For a lot less than trading I can change the front end or likely put on an aluminum bumper. In reality it seems the OR is somewhat of a mimic of an aftermarket bumper. I really have little need for a winch so probably won't go that route. If I go with the bumper I will get it painted or wrapped as close to Blizzard Pearl as possible. Migueons unLTD certainly pushes a lot of my buttons other than being black but to each his own regarding color. I already have KO2's on stock OR wheels waiting to be put on for the coming winter snow and I have the OR rocker panels installed. I must admit the low nose and tail fascia do not look the best with the trimmer black rockers. Looks like bumpers this Spring may be on the agenda.

Sorry but I don't think any 5th Gen is anything like an FJ. The size difference prohibits that right out of the gate. After the FJ I was more interested in some creature comforts that were not in the FJ or easily added. The ride of my FJ was also no where near the 4Runner given the mods I had. If you are thinking about the TRD Pro for off-roading I believe it to be on the large side for trails around here. I frequently pin-striped my FJ and the 4Runner would be worse.

I am on the fence right now. But only would consider the Limited with a conversion to Trail/Pro body. I like my 2007 too much to get a replacement for it. I really like the fulltime 4WD V8 and no sunroof option plus i still have low 30k for mileage and it is in mint condition. To get it where it is right now took me years ( i am slow at doing mods, haha) I would hate to do that again. A 2018 for me would be a replacement for my 99, but that just wont die and has no issues other than age. Reason for considering the 2018 is that i wouldnt like to buy the first few years of the new 6th Gen. I would personally wait till the refresh and by then will definitely want to get rid of the 99. So it is now or wait another 4-5 years.

If you're willing to spend some money, you can make a great looking truck with a few mods. Saw a guy featured on Expedition Portal who wrapped his green (I think he called it olive, *but it's not a drab green*)--anyway, it looks fabulous.

I was very jealous when I saw it. Then I reconciled my checkbook and I'm a little less jealous. It's great looking though.
 
I own a TRD Pro and I recommend keeping the Limited. Things I really wish I had:

- Seat memory: gf drives the 4Runner sometimes and is almost a foot shorter than me, so she changes all of the settings.

- Cooled seats: amazing for road trips

- Keyless entry/push button start: really convenient for when I go snowboarding and my key is zipped away somewhere and it's cold out
