The MICHELIN Defender 2 tire are these still a good choice

Our factory tires are dead on our 2019 4Runner. It basically our kids shuttle car, and my wife car. We use it to go skiing and no off road use.

Are the The MICHELIN Defender2 tires a good pick to replace the current tires which suck and are dead at 30K miles? I used to run them on my Tacoma way back when but its been while. Do you have any better tire suggestions?

I think they're great, but I haven't taken them on anything more than fire roads. They are my year round tire here in CO and knock on wood, i've never had an issue with them in snow. they actually track quite well.
 
Michelin Defender 2

I have run these tires on several of my SUV's and they are the best tires made! On my 4th gen in the NC mountains they did great in snows from 2"-24" never got stuck or had traction problems. Very good in wet weather also. You can't
go wrong with them
 
Very happy with my current Defender LTX M/S. They still have 9/32's tread depth after almost 50k miles which is pretty impressive. The main knock on these tires is they can develop dry-rot after 5+ years as my last set did and that is not an uncommon occurrence. My current set which is approx. 3 years old is showing no sign of dry-rot so I'm not sure if they may have addressed this issue with the newer tires.

FYI - Michelin recently announced they are releasing 2 new Defender options:

MICHELIN launches Defender LTX M/S2 and Defender LTX Platinum :: Michelin North America, Inc.
 
Highly recommend the Defenders. I’ve had two sets on my 4R and have run pavement, gravel, trails, & beaches. They’re terrific tires.
 
P.S. This thread motivated me to check just how many miles are on my current set - 64K, and they’re barely getting close to the wear markers.

Exact model I have is the LTX AT2. Took this last week at Cape Hatteras NS.

Hi, I was going to go with the Defender LTX (I have Mich on my T4R now and never had an issue) but at Costco the two guys both have T4Rs and said they like the BFG Trail-Terrain better (for mountain snow, my main use, I use another vehicle for off-road now). Any opinions on that comparison?
 
Michelin Defender

I'm on my 2nd set of Defenders and have no complaints. Don't get the advertised miles but my tire dealer always gives credit for the difference.
Mostly highway driving, quite a bit of dirt roads and a little off road but nothing too knarly.
