Couple of us are going snow wheeling in the El Dorado Nat'l Forest, it should be snowing most of the day.

I was up there today, snow is deep and fun

If you want to go, look for a white T4R 2006 Limited, that will be me or a Blue Limited

Be there at 10am, high boots for the snow, some food and drinks, bit of recovery kit/shovel and a CB if you have it

how far was it from hwy50/el dorado hill blvd? i searched the map and this forest seems very big, it was divided by south park and north park.

The videos are for those of you who do not get to experience falling snow. A short clip to listen to the wind hum through those beautiful trees. A quiet moment of solitude in the mountians refreshes a tired soul. (Hey I have a stressful job and NEED moments like these!) And the other one is to watch a stock 4Runner tackle the deep stuff. For the record, I called "Girls Rules" and didn't want to do go down that deep trail. It had been raining before and was very mushy underneith the snow. I made Joe go first, and after he made it, I knew I could.

Use this link to see exactly where we went. I'd say it's less than a 20 min. drive, but with all the snow bunnies and the new Red Hawk Casino traffic, say 30. We went as far up as we felt it was safe, which was about 6,000 feet and to Silver Fork Road. That last stretch down to 88 is rumored to be the worst as there is a bit of a steep hill that gets really dicey! It was pretty slick. Joe and I both got sideways several times. I left the VSC on to see what it does when the vehicle looses all traction and control. Pretty cool, it works! After that, I turned it off. ABS kicks on a lot. The worst part is the dummies that park in the road, on a turn to play in the snow. Then you have to inch by them hoping the 4Runner isn't going to slide into them or worse into the ditch on the side of the paved road under the snow. Once we aired down, that helped a bit but basically you just get used to being prepared for when you loose all traction and rely on your driving skills and turning into a slide. White knuckle at first. Either that or you just burn up all your adrenaline and just go with it! But that's what off roading is about. Conquering your fears, learning how to drive the vehicle, and the best part...enjoying the scenery and good friends! We should go again for sure before winter is out.

nice, nice.... so it's roughly about 20 mins from el dorado hill blvd exit? and were you guys ran into trials or just a regular road in the park? it does look very interesting and fun....

Hmm, well so just over 40 min. drive.
