Hey guys! I've searched through the "Maintenance" section looking for recommendations on brake discs and pads, but didn't find anything definite. What are you guys using on your Gen4s? I was thinking about Brembo discs with Akebono ACT pads, but those NAPA discs in one of the threads looked nice, too. Anyone have experience with the "Bolton Premiere" brand?

Can't go wrong with OEM. I have 101K mi on mine and haven't changed both of them out yet.

I only have about 26000 and i hear some mild screeching on mine. I was looking into changing them depending on how bad they look but thats for another thread unless someone wants to PM me a good way to check.

im thinking of ordering a set of Akebono ACT611. my first brake job. the shoes im using are house brand advance or something. theyve been sitting at my shop forever. not sure if i need to do rotors yet but ill be looking at some brembos too

I just put on a set of front and rear Centric ceramic pads and am very impressed!! I did a bunch of on-line research and decided to give these a try as I was getting an annoying squeal from the right-rear and didn't like the feel of the stock pads (Toyota branded Sumitomo semi-metallic) that were on the 4Runner. The feel wasn't consistent and was making me a little nervous... I felt that I should be able stop better.

These "Posi-Quiet" ceramic pads are awesome! Dramatic improvement in feel, stopping power, and absolutely no noise. The pedal, for some reason, feels remarkably better... it could be the thickness of the new pads, I guess. The stock pads were about 1/2 gone as compared to the thickness of the new Centrics.

I love my new brakes and would recommend these to anyone looking for new pads!

Centrics look like winners. I bought a set for a G35 and will be buying a set for the 4Runner.

Looks like my rear set has plenty of pad left, whereas the front needs changing. Guess the 'weight shift' plays a role and may just go with updating the fronts and leaving the rears for now.

Since I always get 50-70,000 miles out of a set of OE Toyota pads...that is all I use.

I just changed mine, OEM pads and Napa rotors. So far everything is good. I got 100k out of my factory pads with some extra to spare. I stayed with oem pads because I really liked the lack of brake dust.

How much about did this cost to do? im reviving a 99 Limited on a budget.

I just installed Centric Cryo rotors, TRD brake pads and ATE Super Blue brake fluid on my 4Runner. The stopping power is fantasic but now my wheels get coated with black brake dust in a few days.

I just changed my brake bads (all 4 corners) and the two front discs with Centric.

I went with the ceramic pads and the Centric blank rotors.

As an FYI for anyone looking at buying stock rotors, they run $150 A PIECE at most dealerships.

I spent less than that for the 2 centric rotors I bought and they are coated with a black anti-corrosion paint.
