    2TH4IST's, Forrest's adventures and things.

Got some more work done today. But only for a short while as it's cooking hot today, well for the rest of this week. Got the metal cut for the back of the platform, drilled, and the wood nuts glued in place. Now I can start to build the framing for the sleep extension and fridge. Also cut the...

Today, my arms are wet noodles from all the sanding I did today. But the main drawer system is sanded and ready to get stained. My compressors air hose blew out and I got a good hit on my left arm. I'll have to wait to stain it until the air hose arrives. Also will be upgrading my oil pressure...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today? - Vol 2

Yes it's a chill trail with a few fun areas. It's my usual go to trail if I don't want to drive to far, nice place to vibe. Hope to see you out there or let me know if you want to meet up there and run a trail (after I finish the camping build). There is also Bailey canyon trail (I call is...

Wiring Mod for NWF or J-shift Swap on '01-'02

Awesome write up! Off topic, but have you thought of running a 2nd mount for the transfer case? Saving up for a doubler and thinking if I need to add a 2nd mount.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today? - Vol 2

Nice 4runner Posty ran 3n16 a while ago when I ran the white mountain loop, the end was rough as all can be. If you never ran 1n09 is a nice chill trail, which has a creek about halfway through, nice when it's hot. Its about halfway up 330. You might run into me up in big bear, I always drive up...

    Dropped Washer in Block

Yep those flexy magnets works wonderfully. As it's stiff enough to push through if it get snagged on a iron block.

Add a paper gasket to coolant by-pass tube?

I think that is sealed with an o-ring. If so o-ring plus some fipg would work.

Try using a flexible magnet to retrieve the washer?

Sorry for updating this so late lol. But got all the new wood cut by my friend. Took a week off of work so I could make some serious progress on the 4runner. Got all mounting brackets fabbed up and painted. Still working on the drawer/sleep system this week. But taking my time and making sure...

Massive coolant leak at rear of engine after water pump r&r

Check the heater hoses coming off the back of the engine. Looks like a massive question mark. Also the heater valve and all the hoses going to them. But phattyduck is correct, the lower intake manifold gaskets do rust out. Mine rusted out around 230k and I did a 5vz tacos lower manifold gasket...

Rolled over to 250k miles! Same day as 4th of July! 250 and 250k! I legit sprayed the 4runner with champagne! Best 20 bucks spent!

So scrapping all this wood. It sucks but learned my lesson. I measured everything to be 3/4 thick, when it actually is 11/16. So think tolerance stacking. Would explain all the fitment issues. Luckily my friend is a carpenter, and (I'm really thankful to him!) Is going to get me 2 sheets of...

Thanks again! Yesterday started the platform build, well screwing and gluing the stuff together. Got some of the pocket screw holes drilled out. It came together nicely. Only had one mess up, cost me my front half of the sleep platform so had to get another sheet of 3/4 errrrrr 11/16 plywood...
