Hi everyone,
I just wanted to follow up and say thanks! So in the end I went nuts and did everything, story and results as follows:
- So I started with the plan of LBJs, struts, and tundra brake upgrade (199mm WE)
- Once I got in there, I wasn't thrilled about anything else going on and...
Thanks guys! My wife is leaving town for two weeks so my plan is to:
1- Order the "must dos" for suspension and the brake upgrade in advance
2- Pull everything immediately when she leaves (kid at christmas!)
3- Examine the control arm bushings, tophat rubber etc
4- if need be, order the bits #3...
Well, if we are talking about both calipers having the same pad surface, the WE should be just fine for me then? (I'm assuming that is the 199mm option?) Easy fix if so! I appreciate the insight
Hi everyone,
I am planning a tundra brake upgrade for my 2001 4runner. The truck is currently on a set of 16" OEM take-off rims from a 2023 Tacoma, image below.
Might anyone know is the 231mm Tundra calipers will clear these? As best I can google is the truck was a 199mm caliper stock (but...
Going to Replace Front Struts + Ball Joints, have any "while you are at it" reccos?
Hi everyone,
My wife's daily is a 2001 192,000 mile 2WD 4runner we love to death. Its a nice rust free truck, which is somehow still on its original front suspension, which blows my mind. No rust, and if I'm...
Just a note to say thanks everyone! Between your tips, the FSM, and the Timmy video this was far easier than I was expecting. Total time for the rear including lots of fidgeting and cleanup was 3 hours. Those top nuts were a good 45 minutes of that
I went KYB and OEM springs, its my wifes daily...
Thanks phattyduck ! Apologies for the delay but work inhaled me the last few weeks and I haven't had a chance to get this moving.
Doing rear only for now, then will move to front the next free weekend.
I'm going to order KYBs, is it worth the $20 for an energy suspension (or similar) poly...
Hi all,
My wife's daily is a 2001 2WD, stock suspension since she is quite short and it is 2WD anyways. We are starting to see a little rear sag, and the shocks are prehistoric anyhow, so its time to replace the lot.
I'm planning on using OEM springs (no good/quality aftermarket at stock...
Thanks everyone! Excuse my delay in reply, family chaos this weekend.
Tons of great ideas. Are there any specialty tools I'm not thinking of? I just did the timing belt and H20 pump needing effectively nothing fancy, but I'm amazed there isn't some oddball tool size or weird angle of wrench or...
Hi everyone,
Hopefully this makes for a fun thread with good insights. I'm preparing my 2001 for some extended travel, and I want to assemble a small but very effective ride-along tool kit in case the s*^t hits the fan on the road. I'm wondering if there is anything insightful I should be...
Hi all, I can use a very quick sanity check please :)
I have a 2001 SR5 (not limited with auto climate)
I'm ordering the climate control bulbs and the chart shows them as "Neo-Wedge B, 10x4mm"
Confirming that is a"T4" in normal ordering terms, VLED specifically?
Any while we are at it...
Thanks guys! This gives me a clear (and logical) direction to move in.
Old fluid is getting a better look tonight when I empty the drain pan, but at a glance when I drained it things seemed to be normal but "old", just a dirty dark red.
I'll report back once getting into it Friday!
Special...
