It happens to a few 4runners. Dont know why. I read that there is a company who will rebuild your cluster and put the miles back on it that it had, or you can buy a used one that matched your original miles. Really your only options from what I have seen.

Fluid level could be a little low I would guess. Start simple and cheap, change the fluid and make sure level is good. If it still does it then take it to a TRUSTED shop. It could be a solenoid or something sticking/going out and nothing major or expensive.

Looks good. If they were purple or blue or some weird color that is obviosuly not for offroading, then yes. But imo white/amber actually serves a purpose. But you could get some more to put on bottom of frame for offroading.

I am still considering replacing everything that can go out and cause me to be stranded just for the peace of mind lol (starter, fuel pump, sensors, alternator ect) but not sure if that too excessive or not.

05 V8 just hit 160k miles, obviously runs like new. Off topic some, but does making road trips worry you any with having higher mileage? I trust my 4runner, but having higher mileage and worrying something will go out away from home is something I'm always worried about. Anyone else?

Thanks man. I might have to just do this instead. I used a universal harness I bought from Amazon that plugged right into the factory harness and it fit great and all prongs lined up, but I still couldn't get it to work.
