Adding rear airbag suspension for towing? (V8 Sport edition)

Installed the Airlift 1000 kit a couple weeks ago. So far so good. Installation wasn't bad and hasn't lost any significant amount of air yet. I had it around 12psi (min=5, max=35) for towing my 6000lb boat trailer. Previously it was 15" off the ground unweighted and 12" weighted. With the kit at...

Adding rear airbag suspension for towing? (V8 Sport edition)

Why do you not recommend airbags?

Adding rear airbag suspension for towing? (V8 Sport edition)

ArthurKotb - not using an aftermarket WDH. But mine has the beefier hitch rated for 7000 lbs. She tows pretty well! My concern is more for the trailer tires wearing poorly and the hitch dragged on inclines with the tongue being too low. Don't think my XREAS is leaking as I haven't noticed...

Adding rear airbag suspension for towing? (V8 Sport edition)

Sounds like a plan. Is there anything I need to know about XREAS for this? I think my car would have it since it's a Sport edition but I know nothing about what this means re: effect on suspension jobs.

Adding rear airbag suspension for towing? (V8 Sport edition)

Thanks all. Sounds like airbags are a viable way to go. Timbren SES (bump stops) seem similar in price to air bags and a less versatile more bandaid solution. Think I can handle the slightly harder install of the airbags! Gamblin4Runner — your setup sounds great! But want to avoid an entire...

Adding rear airbag suspension for towing? (V8 Sport edition)

My 2004 V8 Sport edition does pretty well with towing my 6000 lb boat+trailer, but the 19 year old springs and substantial tongue weight are making the rear sag significantly. I don't really want to lift my 4runner (I don't off road), but want to ensure it's level while towing for best...

    '04 V8 speedo/odo not working + CEL light + VSC et al

Update: Shop replaced the speed sensor on the transfer case which fixed the speedo/odo issue but not the ABS/VSC lights. They further diagnosed and found it was the front right wheel sensor. Since I already replaced that, they removed the wheel and cleaned out the wheel bearing (said it had lots...

    '04 V8 speedo/odo not working + CEL light + VSC et al

For anyone dealing with this issue, it does not appear to be caused by any of the 4 wheel sensors (replaced / swapped them all). Taking it to the shop today—sounds like it's the sensor on the transfer case but will update later

    '04 V8 speedo/odo not working + CEL light + VSC et al

Anyone? Just replaced the front right and front left wheel speed sensors and disconnected battery but codes are not clearing. Still no ABS or VSC. However the speedometer has been working some days lately and not others. Working again today post-sensor swaps. I might try swapping the rear...

    '04 V8 speedo/odo not working + CEL light + VSC et al

My 2004 V8 4Runner Sport lit up last week driving home...ABS, VSC lights came on...then CEL a little after that. And now the speedometer and odometer are not working. Autozone showing code P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor "A." No shifting issues or anything else out of the ordinary. I have been...

Aftermarket seat heaters; and they fill the blanks too!

2022 bump— I would love to install heated seats in my 2004 Sport edition. A) Is it possible to put the heater element under the cloth seats or do you have to use a seat cover? B) Anyone have a working link to a good aftermarket kit? C) Anyone know where can we find the switches that fit in...

    upgrade transmission cooling

What's the verdict on this? I have a 2004 V8 4Runner and am towing about 6000 lbs over the Rocky Mountains at up to 11k in elevation, so was strongly considering upgrading my stock transmission cooler to this B&M one. Has anyone done this? I saw lots of installs on the V6s (which don't have...

2344138 was indeed the correct part. 20 min job with the right tools

V8 Oxygen sensor replacement P0031, did I get the right part?

Thanks—very helpful in clarifying that terminology. Sounds like I have the right part. Hopefully install won't be too bad.

V8 Oxygen sensor replacement P0031, did I get the right part?

Thanks Buckaroo, I ordered 234-4138 so that's good. That schematic is helpful but also muddies the waters a bit...the Autozone code reader refered to my P0031 code as "Heated oxygen sensor heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1" which is kind of a mix of the language of the two driver side...
