    bad gas

thanks all! got her started and made it to the gas station for a fill up, runs fine now. I do try to keep 5 gallons on hand for emergency's......what do you figure is a safe time to keep it before it goes bad? here in mex we have no ethanol in our gas if that matters. thanks!

    1997 4runner rear door latch

I did a really poor job of troubleshooting the same problem, I surmised it was the lift gate lock latch so I attempted to bust into it and totally destroyed it. used one on ebay was 70 bucks and I doubt it is even the problem! :frusty:

    IAC question

without even removing it just pop off the coil exposing the armature it'll look like a black knob. rotate it back and forth and should turn freely, it will now act like a idle control. after setting the idle I dabbed a little epoxy on it to keep it in place and I honestly couldn't detect...

Can I close IAC valve completely to keep rpm at idle on clod start?

if you completely close the IAC the engine will die. without removing the IAC remove the the two screws holding the coil and remove it, you will see what looks like a black knob this is the armature and will act exactly like a idle control. rotate this to the exact idle you want dab a touch of...

    Dying at idle

you can just remove the IAC coil exposing the armature and it should rotate freely, I set mine at a perfect idle and dabbed a little epoxy to keep it in place. I couldn't tell any difference, leave the coil plugged in but unattached and it won't throw a code.

    Crankshaft bolt tool help!

certainly not hi-tech but I just used a 4x4 with two holes drilled that line up with the holes in the pulley with a couple long 3/8 bolts, between em a hole large enough to accommodate the socket. worked good!
