Re-upholstered Leather Seats + Seat Heaters

In response to your post and inquiry, I could not be happier!!!!! The seats are holding up (no sagging, shrinking, compression) as well as the leather seat covers from Ebay. I put in seat heaters (carbon fiber from ebay) and when it was cold, they worked like a champ. I would HIGHLY recommend...

Solution to Brittle Wiring Harness Cover Under Plenum

That painter's tape could be a hazard. It is not designed for high heat and it will dry out quickly with engine temps and could actually start to scorch/burn. I'd get that off and replace it with the rescue tape ASAP. This is just my opinion of course.....

Getting Ready to Replace A/C Compressor

I WOULD NOT ADD OIL DIRECTLY TO THE DRIER! The oil will circulate through the system via the compressor. Also, I used "pre-dyed" oil so if there ever was a leak, it could be found easily. Also, make sure you use the correct PAG oil for the system. I did my complete system rebuild almost 6 years...

    Parts shortages coming me thinks?

The slow-down in most supply chains is due to the mandatory 3 week quarantine on incoming goods from China together with a mandatory UV scanning process of all goods, packages and items coming into the ports AFTER the 3 week mandatory quarantine. Cools heads prevail in all of this. My best parts...

Noob to AC work needs help

The first thing to check when the compressor is not engaging is the pressure switch under the hood on the passenger side. These do go bad and they are a simple replacement. (Trust me - I just went through it)

    "Auto bleed" ABS Module?

I believe I have some air in my abs module (pedal starts hard and then softens after LOTS of traditional bleeds and all new brake hardware, booster, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, fluid, etc.) and I am going to try a tool made by Autel. It’s called a “MaxiCheck” and can allegedly “auto bleed”...

The NOTORIOUS “Cranks but doesn’t start” experiment

UPDATE: Thanks for all the input! I changed out the crankshaft position sensor and the ICU (igniter). Cranked right up! I ended up getting a fuel pump thinking that was the issue but I am fine with that expense as mine was original with 325K+ miles on it. I do notice it cranks much easier now so...

The NOTORIOUS “Cranks but doesn’t start” experiment

UPDATE: I paid to have my rig hauled to a good a reputable shop. Provided Denso fuel pump, strainer and gasket. It was changed out and STILL the "crank but no start issue". (I am seeing this pop up all over in a few recent threads) So, the shop calls me and says two things; 1. The Ignition...

The NOTORIOUS “Cranks but doesn’t start” experiment

You are right about the costs being higher at the dealer. I might just pay them the $90 diagnostic fee as I have so little time working as much as I do. That $90 would be money well spent (if they actually diagnose the issue) and then I could fix it myself when I get time. Thankfully I have a...

The NOTORIOUS “Cranks but doesn’t start” experiment

Thanks so much for the input. I suspect it is the fuel pump but I should be grateful I have gotten 325K+ miles out of the original fuel pump. Rather than tackle this job, I am going to have the dealer do it. It costs a few more bones than I really have in my budget but hopefully they will do...

The NOTORIOUS “Cranks but doesn’t start” experiment

There are lots of threads about 3rd gen T4R’s and Tacomas with 5VZFE engines that “crank but won’t start” and I had that issue develop on mine this past Friday on my way to work. I did the usual stuff – cleaned the IAC, throttle body, MAF, checked the plugs, wiring, vacuum tubes, etc. Was...
