    PO303/300 Missfires

Hello, I have a 1997 4runner SR5 5-speed. I've had a check engine light going for some time due to my charcoal canister, but haven't worried about it. However, recently, the check engine light has started flashing here and there. I seem to have less power under 2k RPMs than I used to. I am...

    Hood latch adjustment?

Anyone have some advice on hood or hood latch adjustment? I recently put on a sport hood with the hood scoop. My factory hood used to have a lot of trouble closing as well. I'd really have to slam it shut. Not just let it drop, but put some extra down force behind it. Now that I've got a...

Huge Favor! Distance between 3rd gen front frame rails.

Hello, I am having discussions with a particular bumper manufacturer who has shipped a bumper that does not fit. It would be helpful for me to have some additional measurements from other 3rd gen owners. If anyone could measure the distance from passenger inner front frame rail to driver...

Not seeing a A vs B on my OME springs

Hello all, I've been banging my head against a wall. I like to do a lot of reading and really know what I'm getting into before I start turning wrenches as my 3rd gen is my daily driver. I have OME 2883's that I'm putting on with Bilstein 5100's, and I read a lot about ensuring you are...

Manual Transmission hard to shift after 1” body lift

FYI it only seems to be 2nd gear that’s an issue. Not hard to shift into per say. But has a much shorter throw than it used to and doesn’t quite seem “seared” into gear. Almost like it wants to pop out but it doesn’t. Maybe it’s not a big deal and I’m just making it one but want to be sure.

Manual Transmission hard to shift after 1” body lift

Hello all, I just installed a 1” Toytec body lift. In the instructions and videos I watched I saw it noted that for an automatic transmission you may need to adjust the shifting linkage, but nothing for a manual. Any advice? I’m a pretty noob YouTube mechanic who’s learning as they go...

Can damage occur installing heavyweight coils before adding front & rear bumpers?

Hello all, Probably a stupid question, but I was reading something on a vendor website I bought my OME coils from and it mentioned not to install if you didn't have extra weight or damage could occur. I ordered bilstein 5100's for front and back a diff drop, and OME 2883 & 2891 springs for...

    Broken Filler Panel/Headlight Bracket?

Thank you. I want to find something at a salvage yard as I want to do a center console swap as well, but I have been unable to find any 3rd gen 4runners around me in the junk yards.

I need a project, modernization ideas?

Check out 98trd4r on instagram. The dude has done insane stuff to his 3rd gen. It all looks super clean and factory. From push button start to climate control upgrades and way beyond. He's made his 1998 seem like a 2019, and I'm super jealous.

    Broken Filler Panel/Headlight Bracket?

Hello, I'm sure this has probably been covered before, but search as I may I could not find it. Everything I could find had to do with headlight replacement itself vs. the bracket. There is this black plastic bracket broken on the driver side of my 1997 that is leaving the filler panel...

Suspension & weight Questions for front and rear bumper on TRDP

By the way, again want to thank you guys all for your posts! I know I'm just asking "WHY?" like a little child but I am learning a lot through this thread, plus things you guys are saying that's having me go off and do research. For example, I didn't even know what coilovers were when this...

Suspension & weight Questions for front and rear bumper on TRDP

I would consider this more of a daily driver than not at the moment. Will be my daily driver for probably the next 2 years while kind of transitioning it into more of a winter/camp/hunt/play vehicle while I acquire a different daily driver that is easy on MPG as I have to travel for work. When...

Suspension & weight Questions for front and rear bumper on TRDP

I appreciate your guys input. I told you I was stupid when it came to this, I was thinking spacers were the only way to lift it. I understand now that coil overs are adjustable, and yeah it would seem stupid not to go with them. I didn't understand that previously, nor that they were...

Suspension & weight Questions for front and rear bumper on TRDP

So what if I wanted to get the front level with the rear, keep the stock TRDP lift where it’s at, and support the weight? Could I just go with stronger coils on front and back and spacers on the front?
