    Black Friday deals

I don't think it's a bad idea for you to replace the rack instead of just the inner tie rods. A few years ago my rack was fine, so I only bought inner tie rods to replace. Then a year later my rack started leaking and I've put off replacing it until now. If I had replaced the rack originally I...

    Black Friday deals

Hey everyone, first of all I hope this kind of thread is allowed. I'm not trying to advertise, just wanted to share a black friday deal I found that brings an OEM power steering rack down to $400. I'm not affiliated in any way, just wanting to share a good deal since I've been putting off...

    01 Glacier Metallic Build

You can always upload photos to Flickr or some other photo hosting if you can't on here, then you can embed it into the thread. Most people use other sites to host since this site is pretty slow. Excited to see some pics of it, though! Sounds like you got a unicorn. Cool to hear you're going to...

Connor's Long Travel '97 Build Thread

Went camping/wheeling up on Bald Mountain last weekend with a few friends who have 3rd gens. This was kind of a shakedown trip for the 4runner, as it was the first time I've taken it on a trip since redoing the rear suspension. Overall she did really well, as I was able to drive out, wheel all...

Yeah totally get that. The first (and only) drive back to my house after doing the work on it with no panhard bar felt super sketchy, even without going over ~20mph the whole time. I just had to make it back to my house since I don't do the work here, but once I got it back I parked it until I...

Appreciate the advice! If I were to build it down, I've got a friend with a solid King/SPC setup with manual hubs that we've agreed to swap with cash on his end if I ever make the decision to. I keep flip flopping though so as long as I can't make my mind up it'll stay, and at this point I doubt...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Has anyone on here experienced or heard about a "groaning" sound coming from the rear when running no internal spring bumpstops? I recently did some rear end work (LC 7.5 wraps, outboard shocks, etc), and am now experiencing a strange sound coming from the rear end pretty frequently. It sounds...

Connor's Long Travel '97 Build Thread

Slowly been chipping away at small stuff over the past few weekends. Finally got my front end off the ground (which is a PITA to do with a low profile jack with all the extra down travel), so I was able to paint my front wheels and have matching wheels again! <a data-flickr-embed="true"...

Very small update, but got a set of Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers installed this weekend. Hopefully they're enough to stop the wheel from rubbing on the shock mount, but I'm thinking I might need to go a little wider. Just need to go and flex it out somewhere to see if it rubs since my jacks...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Could always get the best of both worlds and swap the front dif and rear axle out of the '96 and put it into the '01. It seems like the '01 makes more sense in just about every way besides the elocker so if I were in your position I'd swap it over and sell the '96 if you're mechanically inclined...

LED bulbs in front turn signals with incandescent bulbs in rear?

You shouldn't have to replace your rear bulbs with LEDs. I switched to LEDs in the front and never touched my rear bulbs and after installing the relay the flashing speed was back to normal.

Good to know, so far it looks like it fits ok, but it's definitely close. I think once I build my lower links with some larger tubing it will contact, so I'll have to try something shorter and hopefully get it dialed. Appreciate the insight! Damn I never thought of that but it makes a lot of...

Connor's Long Travel '97 Build Thread

I'm not sure if Rough Country has changed it since then, but the kit I had came with new rear shocks and springs, as it gave ~3" of lift. It only came with a spacer for the front springs. The rear end is a little taller with the LC coils, but only by about 1/2" so maybe it's just the softer...

Connor's Long Travel '97 Build Thread

Over the past few months I've been slowly gathering parts to redo my rear suspension. Now that I'm living on my own and have to spend my money on boring stuff like rent I can't really afford to go all-out quite yet to match the front long travel, so I tried doing everything on a pretty tight...

    3rd Gen T4R Picture Gallery

Still debating on the bronze headlights. They're growing on me but every now and then I think about painting them black again... <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/196437151@N03/52782399428/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0156"><img...
