Question: 2015 4runner and turn signal side mirror wiring

The early 2015 glamour shots showed the base model with turn signals in the mirror, But they changed their minds and when it came out, the side mirrors didn't have turn signals. Does anyone know if they ran the wiring to the mirror and didn't put in the lights, or did they skip installing the...

Rear defrost won't auto turn off

There are a billion posts everywhere when your rear defrost won't power on or heat, but I can't find any on how to diagnose or fix the following: rear defrost comes on fine, heats fine, turns off manually fine, but never turns off with the timer. If you turn it on at the start of a 1 hour car...

    Limited or SR5

I live in a snowy part of Michigan, and with the base SR5 I opted for separate rims with dedicated snow tires during winter. My old ancient 2WD vehicle with snow tires was surprisingly capable in snow. Add to that the Toyota traction control (which all the T4R models have) and you're ready...

Replaced front speakers with Polk DB351s (pics)

I replaced my front speakers today with Polk DB351s and wanted to put a few pics and instructions up. There were a few snags along the way that I wish I'd seen documented. This was done on a 2015 SR5 with nav but no JBL. It's not even a year old yet, so this sort of change was a brave step...

    Windshield washer fluid capacity?

So perhaps store the new jug of 0 degree fluid indoors until it reaches 70, then add that warm fluid? It might melt any ice that's there and the water will dilute into the warm fluid and not freeze again.

    Trailer plug connector

Which makes me wonder why they didn't use a locking hinge system: lower and lock for highway towing, raise and lock for offroad. Then it wouldn't have to be permanently angled down like it is now. You could even lower and lock to plug it in, then raise it back up for towing. Repeat to unplug.

Best tires for snow and ice

I'm going to put in a good word for Firestone Winterforce tires. They aren't the absolute best you can buy for ice, but they are excellent for deep snow. Just put mine on yesterday to get it over and done, no snow in the forecast for another week. Spent time popping last year's gravel out of...

Sudden and drastic drop in MPG?

It's my recollection (and I could be wrong) that when you reset the gauge when parked, it starts from 0 but when you reset it while moving then the last recorded total is kept and used as part of the new calculations.

Where to buy used 2012 OEM wheels?

I bought my used winter Toyota rims on ebay. They're from a 2011 Tacoma, but I had to watch for awhile to find a set with a good price and cheap shipping and then research to verify that 2011 Tacoma rims would fit a 2015 4runner.

Will leaving key in accessory mode kill battery?

I would consider a smaller portable deep-cycle battery with no specified cranking power at all, like this: http://www.amazon.com/ML35-12-Battery-Replaces-Mighty-product/dp/B00K8E0WAG If my math is right (which is never a certainty) with an 80% efficient inverter you'll get about 12 hours of...

    winter rims; tpms sensors

The problem with blackout electrical tape is then you don't get the use of the sensors during the summer unless you remove and add the tape back each season. I had programmable TPMS sensors added to my winter tires but the tire shop was unable to get them set correctly. I bought LightDims and...

Tailgate "spoiler" light - What makes it work?

That makes sense. Only a strong static charge would explain the massive amount of dirt that builds up on the rear window.

    2015 Pricing

My very limited experience is this: 1) When I was shopping, dealers were charging roughly the same price for the previous year's model as the current year. The 4runner would appear to be one of the few exceptions to the rule that they always want to clear the lot for the new model. This may...
