What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I got new tires mounted this morning at Discount Tire. 265/75/R16 Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail AT. I got ~50k miles & 9 years out of my first set of Cooper Discoverer AT3, so hopefully this newer generation works out the same. They still had some tread life, more replaced for age.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

A few days ago, I replaced the brushes in my alternator to fix my intermittent lack of charging issue. I used this one for my 1997, other models have a different part number. Toyota Alternator Holder - 27370-35060. Yesterday I pulled the front seats from an E90 (2006 BMW 325i) for a future...

    Alternator Brush Replacement Question...

Thanks for the tips shared in this thread! Same as others, started getting intermittent battery warning lights and would watch the voltage in my Ultragauge start dropping while it was illuminated. Ordered OEM through Amazon: Toyota Alternator Holder - 27370-35060 for my 1997 4Runner. $34 and...

DIY Complete AC Replacement on 2000 T4R Limited

The parts list in this thread was super helpful! Adding my 2024 costs for anyone facing the replacement on a 1997 4Runner. I turned this one over to the pros. Just under $1000 all in with me providing the parts. Parts saved a couple hundred plus I used all OEM (Denso everything except the belt)...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

What was supposed to be an A/C compressor clutch replacement became an A/C compressor replacement when I found the collar sheared. This one's probably going to a shop to finish, sadly.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I finally installed the 99+ console that I got from the salvage yard a long time ago. I love the BH3D cup holder that I've had for a while and kept it along with the swapped console, but cups feel much more stable now. I split the rear window switch from the wiring wrap and had just the right...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I installed a Spiker Engineering Ultragauge mount to replace the standard suction cup mount. Much better!

For most of the years I've owned my 4Runner, a solid thump gets my clock back every so often when it fades out!

FS: 3rd gen sr5 fender flares central MA 100$

This is a great deal on the SR5 flares! I PMed with Phil and he was super responsive and helpful but shipping down to Memphis was a little more than I'm willing to spend now. Somebody snatch these things up, GLWS!

Question about SR5 fender flare hardware

Do the skinny chrome flares use the same mounting hardware as the black all plastic SR5 flares? Thanks!

Seat swapping - what have you all done?

Those seats look awesome! Did you use the Corbeau slider mounts and if so did they bolt right up or did you have to modify them any?

    Washer spray nozzles

I installed the Odyssey sprayers on Saturday. What an improvement! I adjusted the nozzle as high as it would go and it's perfect. I tried pliers at first with no luck. I did the same as you, one side at a time, but using a plastic trim removal tool with a flat blade.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Those wheels look brand new! Were they in really good shape to start? How'd you clean them or did you repaint them? My 6 spokes are looking rough. I've tried aluminum wheel cleaner and IronX without much satisfaction other than getting rid of brake dust. I just picked up some 5 stars but it's...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

After neglecting the 4Runner for way too long, I've had a couple productive weekends catching up. I've had some KYB Gas-a-Just rear shocks sitting in my garage I bought from another member several months ago. Last weekend I finally replaced the 22 year old original shocks. It took way too long...
