The rebuild was done by Embree high speed labs. From what I see on their web site rotor cup- type or hole-through rear needle roller bearings are replaced as part of their complete rebuilds. The noise didn't change appreciably from before to after the rebuild.

Can somebody help me understand how some of the 1st gen SCs sound smooth at idle and others sound like a box of rocks yet both are supposed to be "normal". Mine is the box of rocks category and although it runs strong and smooth under acceleration, the noise at idle just drives me crazy...

It got up to a balmy 38*F so I took it for a ride. It ran good and idle noise was back to normal. Guess it just doesn't like those extreme low temps so I'll plan on driving something else on those days...

Seems that my front driver's side door on my '98 won't stay open. When I push it open it wants to swing back closed, especially if there is wind or its parked on an uphill slope. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks...
