Hello All, I have a 1996 4cyl 5 speed, with a small tranny leak. I took it in to get looked at, and they said it would cost about $350 to swap out the speed control gasket....WOW. I want to hear from you experts....is this as easy to fix as I think? Thanks in advance.

Need more power!!! Thank you all for your great ideas. I think I will try swapping out the gears first, seems like the easiest and most cost effective. I will then start to look for a turbo, maybe a rebuilt. 4.56 gears? ....not sure if ill make it on the hwy without running at 8000 rpm's. Thanx...

sealed tranny on 1996 4cyl??? I will take your guys word over a couple guys at aamco any day. would you guys recommend the dealer? or should I just look around for a good mom and pop shop....those are hard to come by in Long beach Ca.

Got it, thank you all for your help. Do you know if there is a way to add a dip stick for this tranny? or do you just always have to monitor and change frequently?

This is a 5 speed, and I can not find a dip stick anywhere. I looked several times...nothing. I talked to aamco and that is what they told me I had, sealed tranny.
