    Rear Bumper fix HELP

The rear bumper is 3 separate pieces. Probably only way to disassemble is to first remove the entire bumper though. Not hard, that's a 20 minute job. once disassembled, you'll see the small bolts holding the 3 pieces together on the inside of the bumper.

    Dashboard cracking, out of warranty

I just used the service manual. it gives enough info on the dash assembly that you can pull it off. Honestly I haven't seen it around for a while but if you search around there's a couple of copies floating around on T4r.org

    Dashboard cracking, out of warranty

R&R'ing the dash is way easier than people make it out to be. It took me roughly an hour and a half/2 hours to pull, and an hour or so the next day to install the new one. Its just expensive. I'd reglue the coverlay before spending that money.

Help needed on 06 4Runner V6 176k with oil residue around the intake manifold

That gunk is old. No way to really know where it’s coming from because it’s all over the place. For all you know oil was spilled as it was being poured during an oil change and that’s all it is. Use some degreaser and completely clean off that area. Then check it a few days later. If you have...

    Tranny woes......

Update-followed directions above and added a bit at a time. I’m now reading in the middle of the hot range at normal operating temp. I ended up adding 24 oz. it’s shifting great, feels smooth and tight now like it’s supposed to. Feels actually better than it did before I changed the fluid out...

    Tranny woes......

This is helpful, and confirmation of what I just found. I did some research on the A340F transmission (which was in the 1st gen tacomas, 3rd gen 4runners, and the 03/04 4th gens. Most of the fluid checking instructions specified engine running. I just got it to operating temp and checked...

    Squeaking dobinsons UCA

YEEEAH...I went by feel on the entire suspension install. And then bought a torque wrench a week afterwards to torque my rear diff drain plug. I'm not sure why I did it like that. That's also a very good thought. Would squeaking indicate over or undertorque? And could I simply loosen that...

    Squeaking dobinsons UCA

So, I'm back on the forums, and i'm working through a couple of annoyances/concerns with my 4runner. See earlier on the forum list for my transmission concerns, here's my other one. I have a full dobinson's suspension installed about 15K miles ago. The drivers side has ALWAYS had a very...

    Tranny woes......

Hey folks! I haven't posted on here in over a year. I'm currently having some concerns with my transmission and wanted some insight. This is a 4x4 '03 with the A340F NON SEALED 4 speed with a dipstick. Currently sitting at 212K miles. Just did a full fluid exchange with 16 quarts of...

PSA: Exercise your spare tire winch!

If you do a 5-tire rotation, you're forcing yourself to exercise the winch every 5K miles. I do a 5 tire rotation myself, and I spray lube the winch while its down, every rotation. Its gone from sticking to perfectly smooth in 3 rotations.

bolt on front recovery point options

Look up trail tailor. They have bolt on recovery points that fit the lx/gx series which has the exact same front end as the 4runner. They aren’t as beefy as the apex overland ones but they’re solid. I have them on all 4 corners of my 4runner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A/T Oil Temp light came on, in 4wd, with diff locked, driving on the beach

note: This was at Padre Island National Seashore on the South Texas Coast. Temps were in the high 40's today on the beach. Also, I'm not sure how long the light was on before I noticed it, but it went off within 1 minute of me noticing it. Seems to me the temps couldn't have actually been...

A/T Oil Temp light came on, in 4wd, with diff locked, driving on the beach

Soooo this happened today. Not sure if this is a big deal or not, but here's the background. 206K miles, limited maintenance history. I've had the vehicle for about 8K miles, its had no drivetrain issues that indicated poor maintenance or abuse, but its not one of those impeccably...

    Middle Seat Removal

Thanks! all 3/4" plywood, gray deck sealer, and leftover marine grade carpet from another project. My reasoning for keeping the platform low was similar to what Boort said. Main reason was our rear platform needs to allow for 2 medium size plano lockers stacked, up to 6 total in the rear...
