Suspension guidance re: end links + lift kits

Hi I've got a 3rd gen '00 T4R which recently blew its driver's front end link. I'm appealing to the greater knowledge here, because I'm not clear on my best way forward, as it's no longer a stock solution, and I'm unsure whether the equipment I'm replacing was the best idea to begin with. The...

Sway bar & end link science

I have an '00 SR5, with a 3" Emu lift and 35" sneakers. I blew an end link in the rear (Moogs), and I have a set of Performance Suspension bushings to put on the rear sway as it is, so I figured here was my excuse to get it done. But now I'm faced with a couple questions: First, should it...

    T-case swap in my '00 SR5

Following up: went with Lucas synthetic 75-90w. The T-case takes about 40oz (1.25 bottles). Did the transmission a couple days later, and that takes almost double. Fill 'til the level of fluid reaches the bottom of the fill hole. Do yourself a favor, when draining - crack open the fill hole...

    T-case swap in my '00 SR5

duh ... meant to ask if there's a preferred flavor of gear oil? I'm of a mind to go w/ synthetic. I see Amsoil & Royal Purple have it; I have to assume Mobil 1. I realize this is like asking what's the best color for a 4Runner (IJM, of course) but I figured I'd put it out there anyway. ;)...

    T-case swap in my '00 SR5

Glad I asked!! I kind of hoped it was as simple as it looked ... I just figured I'd check & make sure there weren't any hidden punchlines. Cool - thanks for confirming (and especially the gear oil tip!)

    T-case swap in my '00 SR5

Unfortunately, this isn't an 'unplanned upgrade opportunity' - I'm just replacing a busted t-case w/ the stock part; got a boneyard find that came dry & have a couple questions before I start unscrewing things ... Is there a preferred ATF (I assume) for the t-case & how much does it take...

What are my upgrade options re: t-case

Well, we do get a lot snow, but even then I typically don't use 4x unless it's especially hairy. We just had kind of a rotten winter and I think I might've used it all of 3x, for a whopping total of maybe 200 yards. If your manual j-shift would fit my truck (which is what I have now; Toyo...

What are my upgrade options re: t-case

It appears that after >208k miles, the stock transfer case in my '00 SR5 manual has thrown the towel in. Granted, it's been pushing a lift & 35s for a while, so I don't hold any grudges. Instead, I'm looking at this as a typical "unplanned upgrade opportunity". While I'd love to drop $2k on a...

Grille badges - a new take on it

[insert standard no affiliation disclaimer - I just found this and thought of T4R.org] I came across this site in my travels; they make grille badges - tons of stuff, lots of Mini Cooper -centric items, but while there are some generic 4x4 options (like this one, and below) as well as some FJ...

    Squeak and and vibration

Fixed mine: rearmost U-joints on the rear driveshaft So I was wrong about the front end being the issue; but after some more miles and tooling around town I was convinced it was something to do with the power output. Because, any time the power to wheels (in 2hi) changed, the vibration would...

    Squeak and and vibration

That I do need to check, but w/ my sneakers (315/70R16 Nitto Grapplers), I should be torqued to 90lbs apparently. After some more miles, I'm worried it's an output bearing or something not related to the wheels, because it's not consistent - which is confounding: it's not related to a certain...

    Squeak and and vibration

Nah, it's clearly coming from up front (should've mentioned that originally). It's odd because it's literally right at 60mph (indicated, so real speed that's probably more like ... 66-68 in my truck): above it, grumbling; under 60, nothing.

What're you reading? (or, any non-Jeep centric periodic literature out there?)

Yeah, I used to get Rovers North too (used to have a Disco I). Good mag. I've wanted a Defender 90 (or a 110, now that I'm a family man) for years. I just like reading about other build ups, and considering what else I could do with mine. The other mags I've bought so far are loaded with...

I haven't spent much time looking around, but so far I'm like 0 for 3 with picking up a monthly rag that isn't Jeep-centric. I don't mind/care, but it would be nice to read about something other than a YJ/TJ/CJ/JK. I did pick up an issue of 'Crawl' which was not Jeep-centric, but those guys...
