What are my upgrade options re: t-case

It appears that after >208k miles, the stock transfer case in my '00 SR5 manual has thrown the towel in. Granted, it's been pushing a lift & 35s for a while, so I don't hold any grudges. Instead, I'm looking at this as a typical "unplanned upgrade opportunity". While I'd love to drop $2k on a Marlin twin-sticker, that's still not going to fix my T-case. So ... are there any sane upgrade paths for my truck? This is primarily a daily driver that doesn't get many miles anymore; it's mainly for snowy months, and camping & crawling in the summer.

Barring any upgrades, who has a gently used transfer case (near central NY) they're thinking of unloading?

You might be able to upgrade to a 99 and up limited 4runner, tacoma w 4 wheel select, sequoia or tundra transfer case. Any of this will give you a center differential for AWD. This would be a good upgrade if you have a lot of snow.

You would need to make a wire harness to make the actuator work but that is easy.

i have a couple transfer cases (manual j shift and an AWD unit) but I live to faraway from you....

Well, we do get a lot snow, but even then I typically don't use 4x unless it's especially hairy. We just had kind of a rotten winter and I think I might've used it all of 3x, for a whopping total of maybe 200 yards.

If your manual j-shift would fit my truck (which is what I have now; Toyo dealer says there are options, depending on VIN?), what kind of shape is it in & what would you want for it - provided you were willing to part with it? My brother lives in Charlotte, so it could be an excuse for a long weekend visit, or if it works out, I could have them bring up later this summer when they visit.

This is pretty much your only option for a upgraded replacement t-case.
