The gap will be in the carpet You will see the metal floor. I do not remember seeing a vertial gap. There is a vertical area that is part of the shelf, but that part comes out with the shelf. I am not sure if the liners cover or not, but I have removed my shelf before. Good luck.

Might try flipping your receiver hitch That may help a little before you buy a new receiver hitch. You will also have to flip the ball, but this will give you almost 2" of rise. I have a bassboat, but it has dual axles, so I do not have the swag.
