Scan Guage II transmission temp readout

I have a 2005 V8. My question is if SCII will display transmission temp. I have read many threads, but there does not appear to be anything definitive. Thanks.

I have an active OBD II reader as well and there is no data for tranny temp or even oil pressue and temp.

I am not sure why, but there is no data to the port.

I have used “T” fittings and Oil Temp & Engine Oil Pressure PSI “Manual Gauges” to monitor 70s VW’s engine oil and Jeep Wagoneer’s transmission oil and engine’s oil psi. I established norms on normal temp days during normal operations to mark my red lines and operated from those standards. Such as, if the VW’s oil temp ran 225 degrees on a normal hwy drive 75-85 degree day in TX. I knew to back off MPH/RPM @ 250–275 oil temp on a 100 degree day. They worked well with engine oil temp and pressure being the most notable and real concern. The “Old Saying” was when the Red Light came on back then, "It’s Too Late"! jow

I have done this with several of my cars and even my motorcycle. I like the end-result, but my point is that this data is bound to be in the computer of the T4R. I have the Ultra Gauge OBD II reader that mounts in the cabin.

It provides some really trick data, intake temp, actual battery voltage, heck even throttle position, spark advance and even engine load. But where the heck is tranny temp, oil temp and oil pressure?

I just don't get it.

Good Points On Basics! I would have problems purchasing and trusting an instrument not displaying basics. jow

Good timing, I was about to buy a scanguage today. Bought a bigger trailer and would like to be able to monitor temps better. Is there anything out there that will do this on T4Rs? or is it the computer that won't give info through the OBD port?

The engine stores all kinds of data. Plug up the motor to the Toyota Tech Stream and you can see all kinds of data. We kept getting codes on the 2GR and could tell that when the code kicked in the VVTI was kicking in on the right bank but the left was having issues. You can even activate the left VVTI and the rigth VVTI at idle and watch for the car to start dying to make sure they can activate. I have a hard time beleiveing that the data for that isn't in the computer... it's a matter of pulling it out.

I talked to a guy who has it working on his T4R. Using the codes there is a way to reprogram it. Unfortunately he lost the links/instructions. I will search some more.

Anyone else have programming info??
