I'm not a mechanic.. I change my oil and that's about it! I have a 3.4L 2000 4Runner and need some guidance. I can smell some of this burning off the exhaust and there is a large visible leak on the passenger side of engine. Can you guys offer any guidance?

All, right after I replaced my spark plugs with new NGK plugs on my 2000, I noticed a change in the automatic shifting. To me, it seems like it shifts from 1st to 2nd and also 2nd to 3rd at a slightly higher RPM. Is this possible/normal? I know I'm not imagining it... I was wondering if...

Same problem I had the same problem last year on my 2000. Rear defroster didn't work. But mine kept blowing the fuses. Took back panel off and saw there was a wire that had lost its sheath and was grounding out against the metal of the doorframe. taped the wire up and no problems since then.

Let me know what you find... I have the same problem. Now that winter is coming I'll need to fix it!

Looking at getting a skidplate for my 2000 t4r. When I bought it last year, it was missing the factory front plate and i haven't been able to find a factory replacement anywhere... I don't really offroad, but I want something that will protect it since I hit some pretty rough roads in CO...

Anyone know if a 1990 front skidplate will fit my 2000? If not, I'm having a hard time finding one. Callled a couple salvage yards and they don't keep them they say. Anything out there aftermarket (don't want to spend the $ on something Budbuilt quality, I don't really off road)? Thanks! Tim

Mine drop down about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way when it's cold outside only. The exact same thing on my dad's t4R. I'll just live with it when it's cold outside. not really worth the money in my opinion to have them replaced just cause I'm annoyed for a couple months.

My 2000 has 109k on it and the previous owner said he did not have it replaced. I'm trying to decide if I need to replace it. Not fun to spend the money, but not fun to be stranded in winter either!

Thanks you guys, Thai, I didn't really think of it in terms of absolute saftey... but it makes sense. Also probably better having more weight over the rear wheel in the T4R w/o the burden of sandbags, etc. Althought the 4dr does have more weight near the back than the reg/ext cabs... Thanks...
