Revos or BFG KOs?

I have researched these two tires quite a bit and and wondering which would be a better choice for my needs. I'm mostly on the road, but get into some major snow in CO several times a year. I'm buying a 2004 v8 T4r soon and am wondering which tire to choose. My main questions are:

Am I right in saying the BFG KOs are a much stronger off road and snow tire than the Revos, or are they close in performance at an offroad and snow level?

And how do the noise levels compare? It's hard to get a sound idea from Tirerack, anyone have some first hand experience between the two? Would the Revos be much quieter on the open road?

If you really don't off road much then the Revos might be the better choice due to better wet weather handling and less hwy noise and the BFGs are a fair amount more durable and aimed at a person who does really off road more than a few times a year.

It depends on what kind of off-roading you do. If you do just snow stuff or mud, then either tire will do. If you do rock crawling or go over rough terrain with high risk of tire puncture or air down, then i would go with BFG AT KO.

If you want something in between, then i would also consider Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor, which has the snowflake symbol like BFG AT KO (for severe winter conditions), a relatively strong sidewall (stronger than REVOs, but weaker than BFG AT KO), and is fairly quiet on the road (from what i hear).

To be honest, for me, i did NOT hear that much of a noise difference between REVOs and BFG AT KO when i had them on my 4runner (back in 2002). I think that all the popular AT tires make the same amount of noise (from my experience).

Agree with above statements. BFG are pretty tough.

Never noticed any noise with either to be honest.

Snow traction has been good with both . The only thing that throws me is when we get heavy packed lake effect snow and the roads are hard packed snow (basically ice ) , in that case they both are not good , but the only thing that would be good on that would be studs.

The Revo has a P (4 ply ) and an E (10 ply) the BFG AT has a C which is 6 ply and the go up from there .

Depends on your needs/wants , lots of good choices out there.

Revos (P rated) are pretty quiet on the road (for an AT tire). I compared Revos to Nitto Terra Grapplers and found they were quieter at higher speeds (while slightly more noiser at low speeds, but both were barely noticeable).


I was able to try both Nittos and Revos recently and chose the Revos, though the Nittos did great and it was a close choice. I had BFGs TA/KO on my Suburban and they seemed a bit noisier.
