I was able to do the job this weekend and all is well now. The thinnest of the old pads was around 3/32, so it was definitely time to do them. It was relatively straightforward, but I was not able to get the C-Clamp on the pistons without unbolting the caliper to clear the rotor. I did that...

Thanks for all the replies. I'll pick up a set of front pads from the dealer and try to do the repair this weekend. My mileage is at 41K. Has anyone had frozen caliper issues on the 5th Gen? I saw a number of threads regarding this on 4th Gens... That would definitely complicate the repair.

Time for brakes on my 2011 4Runner - the dealer wants about $300/axle, so I guess I'll do them myself. I've done disc brakes on cars/trucks before, but never on the 4Runner. Anything special that I should be aware of? Thanks.

I have a 2011 SR5 and would like to remove temporarily remove the 3rd row seats. I have looked at the other threads on this topic and it looks fairly straightforward if you can get to the bolts that fasten them to the floor. However, I can't determine how to remove the cover behind the seats...
