    OBD port lock

Got here by searching for OBD lock. I am in Ontario Canada and car theft is crazy here. On my street 2 people had their Toyotas (4runner and HL) stolen twice!!! within 2 years you can google it, there are articles in CBC etc. My Toyota sales guy said (if you can believe a sales guy) thieves...

    knock/thud sounds under the vehicle?

Hi all, I hear occasional thud sound from under the truck when driving in a straight line at speeds of 50-80 km/h ( up to 50 mph). Sometimes it's one sound, sometime a few, one after another, then nothing for a while. I think it's at the front. It's pretty random, not speed specific, nor...

Buy used 2021 or wait to order 2022

Congrats! Which dealer is that? I live in Vaughan. I put a deposit for Trail few months ago, they told me Jan-Feb, nothing yet. I have serious doubts they will deliver.

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

^^^ Exactly. The summary of this thread is I am buying 5th gen cause it works for me and I am buying Trail because it's cheaper and has no 'push button' start due to theft risk. As far as off road features go, I do not go off road for the sake of it. I go places and I do it alone, so I hate...

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

You're actually right on the money (duh!) Bank of Canada inflation calculator comes at 50,099 at 1.84% annual :) Thanks for the exercise. I am sort of aware of how it works ;) but it's a good reminder, I am getting old, sorry. Soon I am going to be like - What!!! A cup of coffee doesn't cost a...

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

I put a deposit on Army Green (the only color this year) Trail. There was one sold vehicle in all of Canada's inventory and I was told I'll have to wait till January, may be February. This is limited production and most dealerships get one or zero in this trim. Other trims are more readily...

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

I got in touch with a bunch of dealers and 4Runners are hard to get, Trail would be very hard to get, there are not many of them made and allocated. Some dealers said they get one per year at most. MSRP, no discount. Funny thing it's supposed to be 'cheap' model. I paid 41K CAD 11 years ago...

Interesting, never heard the salad days phrase, thanks. I am already skipping deserts and making my own coffee, but I get the point. EV won't work for me either.

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

I tend to agree. My only concern would be gas price going WAAAAY UP. Mind you gas here today is close to CAD 1.40/L ( you convert it :) ) What's 'salad days'? BTW, thanks everyone who provided their thoughts so far, helpful.

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

This is not likely. COVID pandemic created shortage of many things, 4runners is one of them, esp. Trail trim. As I said, I am speficially interested in Trail due to regular key and no Push Button start. It probably sounds crazy to a lot of people, but looks like I live in the centre of Toyota...

buy new 4R now or wait for redesign?

Hi all, I drive 2011 4R, had it since new, 11 years next month. I had 96 4R before for many years. Love them. The 2011 is getting old, I could drive it few more years, but I'll have to replace it within 2-3 years. In Ontario, Canada they rust a lot and I have to have reliable vehicle for my...

Brake pad and rotor replacement that I recommend....

I am looking at rockauto and I see 5 Akebono pads, which ones should I buy? The prices are fairly close. I drive 2011 SRV Also, how long do your pads last? My originals were good for about 90K km (60 K miles), after 50K km (30 K miles) rear pads are gone. I now think the mechanic installed...

    Strong vibrations/rumble at 1600 rpm

It may be different problem then, cause the difference between S and D is the TC clutch engagement.
